Decided that it's time to sell the gixxer (1990) (see link in sig).

All it needs is...

Front fairings.
H frame and headlights (which I have, but will sell seperately).
Rear plastic needs repairing.
Indicators etc.

Or streetfighter it.

Oh and the oil cooler is slighty bent. This needs bending back because you cannot get full lock to the right. (Easily done though).

Bike has been stood for about 6 months.

What would be a fair price to ask (bearing in mind that the engines sell for around £400 on their own)?

I should add, that the frame and forks have been tested by Carole Nash to see if they're bent and they are totally straight. Thumbs Up

Hard call, doesn't look like it needs much money spending on it though to get it back 100% road worthy. A little bit of work, and the added hastle of not being able to ride it to its new home.

I think you're looking at just over £1000. There's a mint 1990 Gixxer750 like yours on biketrader priced at just over £2k. That has braided lines the works, and a years T&T, based on that I think you could get £1200-£1600 for yours at a push.

So does anyone think asking a grand for it is optomistic?

Maybe it's worth advertising on a streetfighter site as I don't reckon it'd sell on here.

Or is ebay my friend? Thinking

i personally dont think you would get the figure you want via ebay, especially for a damageed repairable private sale but in all honestly it depends who sees it and what its worth to them, you may be lucky and get what your asking but i would be surprised.................good luck

A poor GSXR750 (running but cosmetics etc. shagged) would be about £1000. So crash damaged, with the cost of the plastics I'd say lucky to get about half that.
Although this 1985 one is priced at £795 Shocked, so what do I know Rolling Eyes

Bear in mind that bikes are often worth more in bits than when put together!

The GSX-R750 was made from '96 so not your bike, easy to confuse the 2 though just from the letters. Careful if you advertise it someone doesn't think you're passing it off as the newer one (although buyer beware applies Wink).

Just my thoughts, HTH Karma

Also bear in mind SRAD 750's have been going for unbelievably low amounts on ebay recently. I've seen two in half-decent condition go for 1550 and 1750, admittedly high mileage though.

How fast have you gone on your bike?

ALL Japanese GSXR's after 1988 are restricted via the cams, carbs and CDI. Due to this the engine is not worth £400 but nearer £200 and the whole bike in my experience and bear in mind I own 3 oil boilers and deal in them is around £1000-£1200 but if you fail to admit it's an import or sell to a numpty you might get £1700.

Quickest I had was 135 mph. Had plenty left in it, but got nervous Laughing . The fella I bought it from had 150 out of it.

Got a TRE on it so it accelerates well too. And the Cyclone sounds ace.

You can't fit a TRE to a 1990 GSXR750. There is no retard on the timing.

What you might have is a diode inserted into a wire to trick the CDI into thinking your in fourth so the engine can rev out but this doesn't remove the restriction from the carbs or cams.

The way to check is to see how many wires are with the neutral light wire, if one more than UK standard your restricted. If not the person you bought it off lied to you as well as lieing when they said it had a TRE fitted.

As an idea the UK spec does around 32-34 to the gallon so if your getting more your restricted. It will also power slide the rear upto third as well as wheelie off the throttle to third dependant on body position.

UK 1990's had 38 mm carbs but japanese imports had 34's or 36's

Sorry but what are you talking about?

The GSX-R was first made in '85 the hyphen being there to differentiate it from the GSX therefore GSX-R(acing).

Well it had something done to it. It's got a 0 - 60 of about 3 - 4 seconds and keeps pulling strong over 130. Wouldn't of thought a resricted bike would do these speeds? Thinking

GSXR750 - from 1985 to 1993.
GSX-R750W - from 1993 to 1996 (W for water cooled).
GSX-R750 - from 1996 to current.

GSX750 - from 1980 to 1989.
GSX750F - from 1996 to current.
GSX750W - from 1998 to 2003.

So if you seen and advert for a GSXR750 and there isn't a year given, which one will it be?

HTH Thumbs Up

So this would be 89 for example.

Note that little hyphen.

Fuck knows I go by the model letter. Smile and the water cooled models started with the WN in 92 except the states where they had to wait until 93

Sorry map but I'd like to know why you rated my post showing a 1989 Suzuki brouchure as confusing just because it proves you wrong on your idea of the model names?

Please explain...
