What happens is the throttle doesn't snap shut when I release it so I'm guessing some of the glue has run into the throttle body or between the bar and throttle sleeve. How easy is to dismantle the throttle unit? Do I just unbolt it or do the throttle cables need releasing from the carbs first. Bike is 2003 Fazer.

Take off the bar weight and see if it still does it

It's always going to be rubbing on the bar end or the plastic handlebar controls. Can trim the ends of the heated grips gently so only the rubber bits.

Is why muffs are supreme btw. Wink

My FZ developed a sticky throttle after I'd been riding for about 10 miles each time I rode it.

It took me about 6 months to work out it was the heated grip expanding enough when hot it was rubbing on the bar end weight....

Sorted. Turned out to be a tiny smear of glue between the bar and throttle sleeve. Dismantling the twist grip was dead easy.
