AGV V-Flyer, bought from Hein Gericke for £135 in the sale.

Have you got any bike shows coming up wherever you live - might be able to pick up a bargain?

Have a look in MCN this week Im sure I spotted some bargains.

How much you looking to spend?

Got a caberg myself, J1+ to be precise. Never tried a proper non flip up lid, so I suspect my caberg is a smidgen louder at motorway speeds. Of course, noise doesn't comine into it for me, as I wear ear plugs on longer journeys. Thumbs Up

Just go in and see what fits Thumbs Up

I've got the Caberg Justissimo - see below.

It cost me £150 with the sun visor, it would have been £100 without.

I really like it.

I got a rayven flip up lid off ebay, very happy with it so far.

£55

my gloves are rayven aswell and they're excellent quality so I had no problems getting a lid from them.

I've got a dainese helmet aswell, and although this doesn't have the same quality feel to it, it's not far off, and the dainese was 4/5times more expensive.

First helmet was a Kiwi, around 50 pounds, from John wrens motorcycle center, got me through my test and onto a 125 anyway, currently looking for a new one.

Absolutely! The difference is absolutely amazing. There is just no fog, at all.

The only things I've noticed with them is that they get scratched more easily, and require a bit more care and effort to clean properly. When the temperatures are below freezing and it's wet, their performance suffers, made worse by being mucky. However, compare even that to what a normal visor would be like and it's still far better.

I think part of the problem on that particularly cold and wet occasion was that my breath froze on my visor when I stopped to let my hands defrost.

Anyway, thoroughly recommended, they're simply amazing.

I use either my SHOEI RAID or my new ARAI ASTRO J..

If you go to Hein Gericke they have a sale on NOW on helmets, the 'HJC' helmet is actually a SHOEI lid made on licence by 'HJC' so it has all the quality, fitment and spares etc but with a different name. Contact 'MOZZA' aka Kirk at Hein Gericke , Liverpool and he'll give you advice and prices.

mines a shark helmet (like the one in the picture but without the coloured visor) i payed £70 for it reduced from £120 as it was the last size left

you should be able to pick shark helmets up for less than £100

Whats the deal with ACU stickers?

My new £80 FM helmet doesnt have one my the GF's £59 flip up Takakhasi does.

I recently looked into booking a trackday and they insisted on a gold stickers helmet.

Any info?

Caberg J1 for me, got it for £70 at the NEC. Thumbs Up

It is a bit louder than my last full face, but it doesnt mist up and the convenience of a flip-up outways the noise problem.

Can't wait for the summer to drag out the mat black p155pot lid and goggles and get the flies back on my teeth.

Drives me mad that does.. I tend to end up only using one hand on the bars or getting off all together. That or just taking the helmet off.

Pop down to your local Hein Gericke they will probably have loads of helmets at sales price. My local one in Harrow have loads of good helmets going at a reasonable price.

Have a look at KBC helmets as well as there quite nice.

HJC - bought at the NEC for £110 - fluffing brilliant.

Last lid was a Shark, and since I panic a wee bit, it was always misting up, this one is excellent, no misting, hardly any wind noise and no wobbling around at high speeds (tho this is probably down to bad fit if it happens).

And the iridium visors are only £25 !!! WA-HEY

Highly recommended Very Happy Thumbs Up

My Shark visor was £50 Crying or Very sad

Had the AGV V-flyer for a year now. As a helmet, the protection inspires confidence and the lining is comfortable. For performance though, the visor doesnt feel to open and close with enough conviction, the vents feel the same whether they are open or not. Personally the Double D locking system has worked out the wrong option but is secure. The worst part though is the wind noise, which is a shame because it really is a nice helmet!

If you want a new lid its best to decide a budget and try out everything in the style you want. What works for me might not work for you, for all you know I might have a head shaped like an alien and thats why the AGV is comfortable. Having spent most of saturday trailing round the Scottish show with a mate who wanted a flip up helmet Mad you can see the big difference. He really wanted the schuberth but when he put it on his face was nearly touching the chin bar. When he tried on the new version of his aria for comparison he could nearly get his fist into it.

Go try some on and see what works best, I got my AGV because it was the only one in the shop that fit!

good luck

Wink
