Are you sure?
The word siphon (/ˈsaɪfən/ SY-fən;[1] from Ancient Greek: σίφων "pipe, tube", also spelled syphon) is used to refer to a wide variety of devices that involve the flow of liquids through tubes. In a narrower sense, the word refers particularly to a tube in an inverted 'U' shape, which causes a liquid to flow upward, above the surface of a reservoir, with no pump, but powered by the fall of the liquid as it flows down the tube under the pull of gravity, then discharging at a level lower than the surface of the reservoir from which it came.

On a lot of those Yams, the tank as viewed from the outside, is kind of false and actually all fuel is stored in a square section, out of sight behind the frame and under the seat unit.
When you lift the tank, the airbox and carbs are right at the top of the false tank profile, putting them higher than most of the petrol storage. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Had this on a cbr6 f3.
Float bowl seal do-hicky wasn't sealing...
Upon removing the carbs I was greeted with an inlet full of fuel
Carbs off, cleaned them and all was fine. |

It’s quite s job getting the bank of carbs off my YZF, due to the position. I’m a competent mechanic but still gave up until I bought a Haynes manual.
I wonder if the OP saying the carbs are clean is just looking down the intakes and not inside the float bowls?
They do not have a fuel tap. Reserve is via a sensor and physical pump switch. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

As a 95 bike, it could well be ethanol in the fuel attacking your needle valves. I had a similar problem with a KLE500.
That kind of damage will look like white fur on the alloy of the needle valve and the end will look like it's been slighty nibbled. If this is the case, get some new viton tipped ones.
You can actually check if a duff needle valve/float is the problem too (but it is, can't be much else). It should be possible without removing the carbs from the bike. There will be a drain screw in each of your float bowls, when you loosen the screw, fuel will run out of a little spout in the bottom of the float bowl.
If you put a piece of clear hose on that little spout (other end open to air) then bend it up next to the carburettor body, when you open the drain screw, fuel will fill the hose to the same level it is sitting in the float bowl. In a normal carburettor, this will be slightly below the float bowl gasket. In one with a leaky needle valve, it will be the same as the level of fuel in the tank (ie, it'll piss out of the top of your bit of tube).
You could use this to test each carb, might only be one duff one. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Some models have a vacuum fuel tap, that`s why i`ve asked about the vacuum pipe. |
