Hi Guys,

I was planing to install an HID headlight kit for my 2016 YBR125ed (stock bulb 35w/35w H4). If I install a 55w kit, would it be too much for the bike? the kit draw power directly from the battery but since the factory bulb is 35w, i worry that the 55w will melt the headlamp or some factory wiring. any suggestions?

Don't. It dazzles oncoming traffic.

Chuck in Osram nightbreakers or similar. They worked just fine in my YBR on Welsh country roads at 5:30AM in the winter on the way to work.

Yes. The wires were ok with the current. I never noticed any heating or crispiness on the wires.

HID's are designed for a totally different lens than the YBR has. That's why it dazzles, not the wattage they consume. A 55W LED would blind everything.

I m not going to use an led, but i m going to get a xenon kit. Would this dazzel other drivers as well?

Installing HIDs in a reflector designed for a conventional bulb is an instant MOT fail regardless of beam pattern.

LED was an illustration to show you that Wattage is just the energy consumed, and not really an indicator of the light emitted. Unless you replace the entire headlamp with something like a Daymaker, I wouldn't bother with LED's/.

In short - Don't use HID's, full stop.

Osram (Nightbreaker), Phillips (X-Treme Vision) etc all do really good bulbs. Use those.

What part of 'Don't use HID' don't you understand?

Your next comment will be 'I'll stick with the standard tyole bulb but increase the wattage', won't it?

So you don't care about dazzling people then?

Can you tell us which country you are in so that we can avoid it? The death rates on the roads there must be appaling if you are typical.

They will if you dazzle oncoming drivers and one decides to turn around and "have a chat" about it and shove it up your arse. Frequently happens in Latino countries if Youtube is anything to go by.
