Hmmm. this looks potentially bad
I've fitted a new (eBay second hand) exhaust to my bike, and took it out for a run yesterday. As it was warming up I noticed a lot of smoke. Seemed okish though so off I went. Now, as I've repainted my bike, its currently without mirrors so I don't know when this started. Anyway, I eventually noticed huge clouds of white smoke pouring out the back of the bike when under revs.
It was running mint until I replaced the exhaust so what's happened? To be honest its running a crap load better now, far more responsive and improved acceleration due to the exhaust not being swiss cheese , but with gouts of smoke. Has the extra compression popped something inside? Could it be crap burning off the inside of the exhaust? I reallly have no idea

Could just be crap from inside the exhaust. I usually assosciate white smoke with water, could just be condensation or water in the zorst. At worst your head gasket could be leaking coolant into the engine.
Check your plug to make sure the mix is right and keep an eye on the coolant level. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Is it an aftermarket "race" exhaust or just another stock one?
White smoke from a 2 stroker can be quite an evil indication, as StinkWheel said, of a leaky gasket.
If its a race system, just make sure its not burning lean, of course if its just a replacement standard pipe, you shouldnt need to worry about that.
I've been told that caustic soda works wonders for cleaning out exhausts. Might be worth flushing it out with some. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

Thanks for all the replies, but I'm leaning toward it having been just full of crap after a good ragging today. Seems (after again, a smokier than usual start) to have settled down, so fingers crossed that's all it was. None of my fluid levels seem to be falling abnormally (after about 30 miles running) so another good sign I think. the coolant level hasn't moved in the 6 months I've been running this bike. Should drain and refresh that I guess at some point. Finally, its a straight swap, the new zorst carries the same markings and serial number as the one it replaced.
On alains point about the pump, it did remind me a lot of when the 2t pump broke and got jammed on full permanently. But that would be too coincidental surely (plus the pump is only about four months old).
I'll keep an eye on it and let you know ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

Hmmm. After a good 50 mile run today, lets look at the facts...;
a) Fine before new exhaust fitted, smoky after but running well.
b) None of the fluid levels are falling.
c) Paint is literally falling off the downpipe on the zorst...
So, after getting the engine really hot and looking it over, I discovered I can wipe the black paint off the exhaust with my fingers Which would suggest to me that;
a) Muppet I bought the exhaust off used bog standard spray paint or Zebrite...
b) In the effort to make the exhaust look like a pro paint job painted the top and a bit of the inside of the exhaust with the same non heat resistant paint...
I believe I'm burning this crap through now and that's the smoke I'm experiencing. Sounds fair, given the above? Any damage going to occur? ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!
