Ste, you want a discount after I offer a free software and a prize for the best guesser? Do you want the shirt off my back too? My pipe software has already proven itself better than the expensive programs and it costs 1/8th what they do. If you want it for free you'll have to win the contest.

Yes.

You're basically advertising your spreadsheet software on here and whilst you're offering $25 credit towards buying something, if it's as good as you're telling us then by offering a discount you might end up with someone using actually using it and seeing how great it is.

The software hasn't proven itself at all. You make lots of claims about it but those don't mean anything until it's been used by two stroke geeks.

No, I don't want your shirt but GT200Fan might be interested depending on what fabric the shirt is made from. Thumbs Up

"I think some of you dirt bikers have fallen on your head too many times. I already showed you how my software is right on the money."

No need to be so polite!! You've told us how amazing your software is but nobody has seen or been shown how good it really is.

If it's as good as you're trying to tell us it is then having it used by people on the UK's biggest motorcycle forum would be to your advantage.

Sadly, I think you're going to go one niner on us. Crying or Very sad

The person that gets closest to my fuel/oil ratio calculators recommended ratio (for your engine and oil) wins a $25 credit towards any of my 2 stroke spreadsheet calculators (www.dragonfly75.com/moto/calculators.html). Just list your max RPM (or engine size and type riding and I’ll estimate the max RPM), type of cylinder cooling (air or water), and which oil you use from the list below. Everyone who participates gets a free copy of the fuel/oil ratio calculator.
Amalie - SynPlus
Bel-Ray - SL-2, MC-1, H1-R
Klotz - BeNOL, Techniplate TC-W3
Motul - Scooter Expert, 510, 710, 800 Off Road, 800 Road Racing, Kart Grand Prix
Maxima - Scooter Pro, Super M, Formula K-2, Premium 2, Castor 927
Amsoil - Dominator, Saber
Repsol - Moto Racing, Moto Off Road
Shell - Advance Ultra
PJ1 - Goldfire Pro
Red Line - AllSport
Yamaha - Yamalube 2R
Lucas semi-synthetic
Royal Purple HP 2-C
Schaeffer Supreme

How does my oil ratio calculator work? It uses the oils viscosity in combination with the change on it that the estimated upper cylinder temp (estimated by max RPM and type of cylinder cooling) causes and figures out a ratio that results in a target diluted viscosity (diluted by gasoline). This ratio is usually very close to what oil manufacturers recommend.

“Viscosity is the single most important physical property of a lubricant. It is a crude measure of a lubricant's molecular constitution from the standpoint of hydrocarbon chain size. Viscosity determines film thickness and film strength.” https://www.machinerylubrication.com/Read/28956/lubricant-viscosity-index

“Viscosity of a fluid is a measure of its resistance to gradual deformation by shear stress or tensile stress.” https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/dynamic-absolute-kinematic-viscosity-d_412.html

“Viscosity is very important because it affects the oil's ability to reduce friction and transfer heat.”
https://www.oilspecifications.org/articles/what-is-viscosity.php

“An oils first line of defense is its viscosity. The ability of the oil film to prevent contact between the rings and the cylinder is a function of an oils viscosity. Generally speaking, the more viscous or thicker an oil, the greater load it will carry.”

Do you not worry about plug fouling and spooge from using too much synthetic oil? You should. Better yet do something about it and use the correct ratio.

Examples of my calculators trueness:
fully synthetic oil:
Motul recommends their 800 Off Road be used at 50:1 and my calculator shows its ratio to be 51:1 for a water cooled engine reving to 12,000 RPM.
I choose 12,000 for extreme use because that is what a modern 125cc revs to. And the oil manufacturers usually recommend a racing oil at a ratio that will protect an extreme motocross engine such as a 125cc.
synthetic/mineral blends:
Golden SX2 is recommended at 32:1 and my calculator shows that same ratio for a water cooled engine up to 12000 RPM.
Golden Spectro is recommended at 42:1 and my calculator shows exactly that for a water cooled engine up to 12000 RPM.
mineral oil:
Spectro 2T is not advertised as a racing oil but something that can be used in oil injector systems so we can say it is for up to 10,000 RPM at the recommended ratio of 32:1 which is exactly what my calculator shows for it at 10,000 RPM.
Jaguar wrote:
mpd72, of course you never seized because you are using twice as much oil as you need to. Castrol A747 is made for multi-cylinder road race engines which means for an RPM much higher than your 250's 11,000. My calculator shows their 40:1 is good up to 17,000 RPM. I'm going to contact Castrol and ask them up to what RPM it's good for.

Jaguar wrote:
monkeywrench, only about 1 in 30 oils give a specific guide for fuel/oil ratio. that's where my calculator steps in, to fill the gap and end the guesswork.

Jaguar wrote:
oils other than group 1 oil have a high flash point so when an oil contains group 1 oil then I factor in to increase the amount of oil a bit. the total volatility of the engine oil is of no concern because a low volatility just indicates presence of solvent. It flashes off and leaves the oil which has good resistance to heat.

Nooby, what my program suggests is way way less likely to screw things up than what the oil bottle suggests which is usually 20:1 to 50:1 (take your pick).
I think some of you dirt bikers have fallen on your head too many times. I already showed you how my software is right on the money. do you also ask your mommy to hold your hand when you cross the street? oh, after she guarantees that you won't get run over. That guarantee is all important.

sorry ya'll. I'm a nice guy till people stretch me to my breaking point with stupid shit. I'm too old for nonsense. This post isn't even about the software I sell. It is about the free oil ratio spreadsheet. What spam? jeesh god all-fucking-mighty

Jaguar, you don't want to offer a discount after you use this free forum? Do you want the shirts off our back too? Our forum has already proven itself better than the expensive advertising programs and it costs 1/8th 0/8th what they do. If you want it for free you'd be honourable to offer a discount.

Lol if I convince my mate it’s ok to run his YPM bike on A747 at 50:1 and it shits itself is OP going to come to Brands Hatch next weekend to apologise and help us fit the spare engine?

Thought not.

Luckily even BCF sees that this thread is exceptional.

Has OP discovered women and wine yet? Maybe when you do you'll stop thinking far, far too much about oil and just start topping
your engines up with it like normal people do. I'm no expert, but all this long winded and frankly boring oil bollocks seems like
pure, undiluted vagina repellent to me. But we would need a female opinion to confirm, if you can find one that wants to post
in this aids victim of a thread. I bet when this guy walks past a group of women the combined sound of their vaginas drying up
and snapping shut sounds like a round of applause. I'd say bore off but it's way too late for the bore bit.

This snake oil salesmen is all over the internet at the moment,

he doesn't get that just because an oil can theoretically be run at a certain ratio doesn't make that the CORRECT ratio for every engine for reliability under real world riding conditions.

A bike set up for 30:1 from the factory can't magically run 50:1 with no other changes and may never be capable of running a leaner ratio reliably even if the oil can take it.

Engine manufacturers don't "guess" the ratios and riders don't change ratio on the fly with each new brand of oil they try.

At the end of the day any ratio leaner or richer than that what the engine builder recommends is a risk that the operator must take, if it blows up tough shite.

37.5 °C (99.5 °F) average cylinder temperature

57 rpm (reciprocations per minute)

you have just proved your calculator is redundant and that oil manufacturers actually know what they are talking about regarding maximum ratios, well done Thumbs Up

They are not going to put out an oil claiming 50:1 unless it can theoretically protect an engine at that ratio, still doesn't make it the correct ratio for every given application,

some engines need more oil to lubricate bottom end parts than others do so cylinder temp and rpm are not the only consideration when choosing a ratio.

Neither is viscosity the defining factor of an oils lubricating properties, if it where the case a thick mineral oil would be superior to a thin full synthetic oil and be capable at running at greater dilutions.
