Hi,

I'm new here and need some advice from fellow bikers who know what they're doing.

One of my inner throttle cables has snapped and I am unsure of what I need to rectify this, do I need a specific cable for the YBR or can I buy a universal inner cable?
I am also unsure of whether it matters if it is push or pull as I have searched google and found two types on cable.

I'm quite hands on and want to give this a go myself.

Cheers,
James.

1. Buy replacement throttle cable for about a tenner
2. Fit it.
3. ?
4. Profit.

Is it the push or the pull cable that has snapped?

Maybe just replace both to be on the safe side Very Happy

When I looked on mymoto or MandP for replacements there is only one throttle cable type, are the push and pull the same length?

Aren't they the same part, one "original equipment", the other a pattern?

Fowlers shows two different cables:

Again, which of yours has broken, the push or the pull?

get a new cable, probably the pull one that opens the "throttle".........

easy to suss out which one has broken, cables are probably different with different adjusters etc........

you know of cmsnl for the exploded views but shop around.....

dont bin the old cable just yet, make a new nipple and learn how to repair the old cable.......

motorcycle maintenance is very much little and often, and that means cables as well, they need lub and good runs.....

Run the new cable in alongside the old first, then remove the old one. That way, you'll keep the routing right. Thumbs Up

If it was routed right that is, its a 2012 bike......look and make sure its not trapped anywhere and not kinked and a smooth run.

Make sure the engine does not start to rev when the handlebars are moved form lock to lock, and that the throttle "returns" and snaps ( bad choice of word but you get my drift ) closed after letting go of the throttle twist grip.

Remember it needs to be in adjustment also.

There may be a manual on here with the oe routing shown.

Cables need regular lubing, little and often.
