Backs of my hands and my knuckles are sore, bit swollen, rough skin calluses and bleeding a little. Think it's down to being outdoors a lot.
What do?
Hand cream?
Probably going to have to be. so recommendations? |

Broken skin - E45
Dry, itchy skin - Hydrocortizone
E45 sorts most of my skin complaints, mostly dry, sore hands from wire sawing cutting. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Either the Norwegian neutrogena stuff or O'Keefes. Both work really really well. |

I have to pay a lot of attention to my hand skin due to working both outside AND in a medical environment where hands need to be clean.
Stop using normal soap, use a pH balanced soap. I use one called baktolin pure.
Use rubber gloves if you do the dishes, washing up liquid is horrible to yuor hands. Use nitrile gloves if you are working on your motorbike because engine oil/brake dust etc is also nasty. The more you get exposed to it, the more likely you are to have a reaction. I've HAD to start wearing gloves because it triggers dermatitis now. Black nitrile gloves are really tough.
Only WASH your hands if they are visibly dirty and even then just wash them in water if you can get away with it. If they are really mucky, you'll have to use that pH balanced soap.
Don't rub your hands dry, pat them dry.
If you need your hands to be CLEAN (eg before eating etc) but they aren't visibly dirty. Use an alcohol handrub. Keep rubbing it until they are dry, don't wipe it off on your trousers/a towel. That way any oils it strips out of your pores are rubbed back in again
I also use Norwegian formula hand cream. I find It works best if the skin is slightly damp (so if you've washed and patted dry your hands, that's a good time to put the handcream on). I have multiple tubes of it about the place (Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen car, work).
If they get really bad, slather them in aqueous cream and put a set of thin cotton gloves on before you go to sleep (pharmacists sell cotton gloves for this exact purpose). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
