Good:
Brilliant fun on twisty A and B roads.
Bad:
Crap for everyday use:
takes ages to warm up,
hunched, compact riding position
expensive to run
need to be in the powerband to make progress
Insurance can be nasty compared to say a gpz500, which has similar power
Need to be kept well maintained
They are not still being made, but you can get second hand parts easily (well, I got pretty much a whole spare one in pieces, so I can )
For me, the first point makes up for all the rest ... but this is only as a second bike as well as having two four-wheel style vehicles. Wouldn't choose one as an 'only' bike. |

If you want reliable, get a bigger 4 stroke. 4 strokes usually last a hell of alot longer than a 2 stroke. Obviously if you maintain a 2 stroke really good then it will last a long time but lets face it you will probably only adjust and lube the chain and check the oil every so often. |

NSR's are great fun and slightly more reliable than the RS125.

I really dont see how people can compare an nsr to an rs? They are two completley different styles of bike? ? ? It should be down to what you want the bike for. ____________________ Laura - "And where did looks come into this and bugsy leave steven alone. They arn't in production anymore, and thanks to new emissions law's they won't be made again neither will anything like them
Speed & handeling are jaw dropping, as is is basically a detuned early 90's 250GP bike with lights and a numberplate.
They are very narrow so they filter well, but thats about the only good things about them when it comes to use on the public roads.
Expect 15mpg/70miles to a £12 tank and to spend nearly as much on oil as you do on fuel. They are uncomfortable for long journeys and pillions arn't a good idea.
Due to their capacity they are very cheap to insure. But i'm certain everyone on here whose ever owned a 250 will tell you to spend the extra money on a bigger 4 stroke
Massive fun
Big running costs
Impractical
Expensive when they break
Break regularly compaired to 4 strokes
Very sore arse |

RS250 2 stroke...
One word... FAST!
They are 2 smokers and there for fast as fook. but the down side is that they are 2 stroke. So if you rag it, Then it will cost you.
They are lightweight too, so you can sling them round a track! |

The advantages of a 250cc two stroke are not Speed; if you want shear speed get a 600cc+ bike. But what they are excellent at is handling and acceleration.
