Heat induction tool.

A bloke at work bought one a couple of weeks ago, he was raving about it.
He's desperate for me to try it so I might give it a bash on my header nuts as I gave up trying to remove them after plusgas failed.
From what I've seen they are extremely effective, anyone have any experience?

They have one at the garage my son works out but it's rarely used. Often they just get the oxy acetylene out.
I suppose they will have uses where flames are less favoured.

We had them supplied on our ships to heat up roller bearings rather than placing them on hot steam pipes which H&S got a strop over.

Wonderful wonderful things if you haven the use to justify the cost.

the ones we had were like this, SKF make. I dread to think what they cost to supply 50 ships.

You can also get some copper and make the element into a suitable shape for access into tight spots.

we have one of these at work, and I have to say it is an incredibly useful piece of tack to have, we do a lot of agricultural stuff and sometimes with lots of hydraulic oil/straw/dust sat in the crevices of machinery the last thing we need is flames, ours is a "power hand" not sure what the boss paid for it but it will cherry red an m10 nut in seconds, for removing paint off of the wheel threads on jcbs and stuff before cracking the wheel nuts off its unbeatable few seconds and then aquick scrub with a wire brush will see even the thickest paint gone.. ive even used the loop part (comes with preformed coils or a long loop) on some quite large stuff, ok it wont get it cherry but if its out of its range it simply doesnt do anything, it "senses" the amount of resistance and wont turn on, obviously they only work on Ferrous materials as they work on magnetic induction so no good on aluminium, they will however heat up a steel stud going throgh an aluminium housing (vw top link bolts etc) quite nicely without scorching everything to smithereens

I have total success with a plumbers gas torch, heats nuts up a goodun, and rock the nut back and forth and it works.

the one we have you don't have a loop of wire that goes round the nut/bolt, it has 2 heads that you can change, one heats from the end, the other from the side, you simply hold it against what needs heating, it is amazingly useful, things that usually would shear and cost much rectification time just come undone.
