You should be able to get a 17.5mm PVHA cheap from a crashed SF100. I can have a look in my Garage to see if ive still got my old SF100 carb as well, as if i do you can have it. I dont know what settings you would need to use to get it working properly with a 50 or 70cc cyl though. If your considering getting a Malossi Carb kit thats pre-jetted for your engine, then i would not assume it's anywhere near right either. The 21mm carb i fitted to my SF100 was so far out on the jetting that it took 2-3hours of dyno time (bloody expensive!) at Taffspeed to get it set up right. TBH ive had very little luck with trying to set up the carburation myself on a 2stroke, as to someone uneperienced its very easy to cause damage from running it too lean, and sometimes you think from looking at plug colours that the mixture is too rich or lean, and from the way it runs and sounds, and the reality is that the opposite is true. Also the different circuits have a big effect on each other, and for example if you have the needle jet, and jet needle set up too rich in the midrange, you have to compensate by going leaner than ideal with the main jet, which means when you do get the other circuits somewhere near right, the fueling on the main jet is going on the lean side etc. Unless you have experience with 2stroke jetting and a Dyno with an AFR sniffer inserted up the exhaust, then id leave 2stroke jetting to a professional every time! |

That sounds perfect, yeah it is the speedy 50 but i would guess the 100 and 50 are almost identicle anyway. top banan! ____________________ The L plate Worrier! Apparently? |
