Light Up My Garage!

As the title suggests,
I need some opinions / ideas on the best approach to lighting my garage

The usual single fluro light just doesn't do it for me as I like to "tinker" on my cars or bikes and there is nothing worse than having to get a work lamp out because you can't bloody see.
Do I use 4 fluros? Except 2 would be hidden if the garage. Door was up?
Also want to be able to see with ease when 2 cars are parked in garage.

Open to suggestions.

I use these LED striplights https://www.screwfix.com/p/luceco-single-4ft-t8-led-weatherproof-led-batten-1-x-18w-1500lm/2979ts in my garage - they produce a really good light. Nothing stopping you wiring a few onto the walls too?

Don't underestimate the power of painting walls/ceilings (and even floors!) a pale colour either - it massively helps reflect light around.

I painted my walls white and got some LED lubes. Its plenty bright.

I have never had to use the light switch they are great, lights come on as soon as I open either door.

I like the idea of wiring it into a PIR (I'm thinking now for my loft rather than garage) - is it easy enough to do?

Another option if you have sockets about is some fluorescent strips that work with 'smart' hubs which you can set to come on at certain time or when you enter a location.

My mates got some Philips hue strips which he says light up pretty well. As mentioned, paint makes a massive difference too

LED lights use much less energy than tungsten filament lamps so you can go much higher in brightness for less shillings in your meter.
LED lamps are not cheap. Of course there are cheap Leads but they may not be reliable.
Buy from known makes.

+1 for white walls. I also lay white-faced fibre boards across the rafters for storage and light reflection. I do miss having a garage with mains lighting and power though.

Paint the walls white and light generated is reflected back into the space. Even if you use that old leftover white emulsion pant that's hidden laying forgotten in a corner it's better than nothing.
Brickwork is super absorbent and painting will take ages to get that first good coat on but it's well worth the effort.
