Going to be looking at possibly restoring the wheels on the old DT soon. The rims and hubs are okay. Maybe they might not buff up perfectly but certainly well enough to paint if needed.
As an alternative to a complete rebuild I wondered whether something else might fit? The rear wheel is 18" x 1.4, drum brake. I found the rear wheel for a Honda CG 125 matches the broad parameters - even down to the number of spokes and spoke pattern...
It looks identical but it can't be that simple surely? Go on tell me what a moron I am for even suggesting it ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

The rims just need to be the same diameter and width so no problems there but the hubs definitely will have different part numbers: I note the CG has the sprocket held on with 4 bolts vs the DT's 6 bolts.
AFAIK (and I really don't know much) if the overall hub width were the same along with the axle diameter it should work.
I'm thinking worse case scenario I can use the brand new rim and spokes and sub in the old hub - assuming the spoke length is the same. That'd be only slightly more cost over just buying spokes but with the bonus of a new rim ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

The front wheel is probably usable as is (although it wouldn't look pretty) with just a new tube and tyre. It looked like a simple solution for the rear - I was just dreaming ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

That's a lot of arsing about. A lot of TDR250 owners lace the existing hub to 17" wide spoked Excel or similar rims. They look awesome and give modern tyre choice, but it costs around £800 a pair.
Your issue with using the rear CG wheel, will mean the CG hub will need using, which could be offline for the chain from the front sprocket and as it only fits CG rear sprockets, will limit gearing considerably.
It can;t be that hard to find aircooled DT wheels, or even TY or old YZ wheels, which stand a much better chance of fitting.
Are the DT rims that bad then? ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

That's not the twin shock version though, that's the later MX. They donlt seem to list the twin shock DT175. It looks like the DT2.
They do list the twin shock DT125 though, which I'd be amazed if the wheels were any different. I've owned both and only remember the barrel, head, piston and carb being different. I'm not even sure the pipe was any different. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.
