RXS1OO Indicators

Hi, does anybody out there have any ideas how to make the indicators on my RXS brighter? They are hardly visible in daylight

Are they much dimmer when you have your headlights on? Because if they are, this happened to me a while back, and its most probably meaning that you need to charge your battery. Others may have something else to say though.

Hi

Think the RXS has a 12V system. Probably worth giving the battery a good charge off the bike and checking that it is healthy.

Not sure whether the RXS has an electrical system all working off DC from the battery. If it does then try using some LED bulbs. Also worth replacing the relay with a new one (as it will be at least a decade old and probably a bit worn and corroded inside). Also clean up all the connectors. Also worth checking the reflectors in the indicators. Likely that these have dulled with age.

my last bike i had was a rxs 100 and i had your problem. the bike has only got a 6v system which is a problem! i found dirty connections and dirty lenses where the main cause. i went to my local bike shop and bought brighter bulbs as well. this helped a great deal. my bike was a 1994 model, but i dont recall them changing anything after this! best of luck ash!!

It has a 6V system and only the indicators work direct from the battery! The problem is that there is only one wire to the indicators and so I can't change for a different type cos most have two wires!!!

They may only have one wire but they still work on the same electrical principle as other bikes 6v or 12v , you will probably find they earth through the indicator housing direct to the mounting point , the single wire is then your supply. fitting twin wire indicators should just be a matter of finding a suitable earth point for the wire that leads to the bulb holder and connecting the other ( the one leading from the insulated contact plate ) to the supply.

And then follow Kickstarts advice and you should be in business

Hi

The indicators on your bike probably earth directly to the frame where they bolt on. As such the chances are that you can buy new indicators with 2 wires and just run one of the wires straight to earth.

Cheap replacement ones in the same style as the original ones would be around £10 each.

I would take the lenses off and clean up the reflectors first, and also clean the inside of the lenses thoroughly.
