Yamaha YBR125 how to find out info on it.

Hi,

I am trying to purchase an ignition for my son's bike from eBay and I need to know if it is an inj or a carb model... How would I find this out.

If this is anything like my daughters bike the problem was intermittent starting. Some days it would, some days it wouldn't despite twiddling etc. It's a common fault with them I think. Hers was the injection model. Clocks and top yoke have to come off, and then hammer, chisel or drill/angle grinder needed to remove the security pins holding the switch. New one goes on a lot easier though!

I'm afraid this sounds a bit vague.
Testing before spending is often quicker, cheaper
and less arseache than 'swap and hope'

If the switch has physical damage, ie wont take/hold a key, turn or function then yes it needs replacemant.
Ditto if its electrically knackered, but a meter will tell you if this
is the case.

I used my MIG to tack nuts on the security bolts when I did it
which helped, otherwise it's as 2wheellover51 says.

The cheap Ebay switch I fitted ( the owner bought it) didnt have quite the same contact functions as the original EFI one and I had to do the black/white wire 'trick' to get it to run.

If you're not aware of the similarities and differences all this may seem
confusing and frustrating.
