 |
|
If this is anything like my daughters bike the problem was intermittent starting. Some days it would, some days it wouldn't despite twiddling etc. It's a common fault with them I think. Hers was the injection model. Clocks and top yoke have to come off, and then hammer, chisel or drill/angle grinder needed to remove the security pins holding the switch. New one goes on a lot easier though! ____________________ 2WHEElLover1951 |

What seems to be the matter with it (apart from "It's dead, Jim")? |
Lol. It was stolen and they wrecked key socket and cut the wires... They then ripped off the fairing from the battery side, when they couldn't get it started they dumped it a couple of miles form where it was nicked from and tried to burn it by shoving a sock in the petrol tank and setting it alight.
The bike it a bit worse for wear cosmetically, but it wasn't in the best shape anyway after having been smashed up and revived twice previously! I am just trying to get it back on the road so my son has transport to be able to get some work.
I know very little about bikes, but last time (he came off it in the middle of a junction after hitting a grid in the wet weather) I replaced handlebars, handlebar grips, footpegs, mirrors, clocks and number plate. The second time it got smashed up when his drunken friends took it for a joyride on a field... they realised what idiots they had been and all chipped in to get it fixed at the garage..
The wiring all looks fine, I've replaced the fuse, I've replaced the petrol cap which came with an ignition (apparently free?) but it was the wrong connector, so I cut and botched the original connector onto it, so I am pretty certain with the correct ignition it will start. If it doesn't I might try the spark plug then it is possibly down to wiring or maybe something to do with the fuel pump.
All the lights are turning on, the electrics a whirring away when the key is turned and it chug chugs when trying to start it (battery is fully charged) I'm a determined little witch and will get it working...
Any ideas of other things to check would be great though
WW x
P.S we haven't gone through insurance as the bike simply isn't worth that much anyway, plus as a young biker with only 1yr no claims it is more important to us to get him his 2nd year as he is doing his A2 this year, so another year no claims will be very helpful. |
