1985 Honda Melody Delux stuck on full revs

Hi all,

Recently I purchased a Honda Melody which was in pretty reasonable running condition. It was running slightly rough so I thought I'd give the carb a clean.

After filling the reservoir with fuel and reinstalling it I was able to get it started again with some difficulty, but unfortunately its stuck on full revs and if I dropped it off the stand it'd fly through the fence.

After googling I thought it could be the carb slide but after tinkering with it I can confirm it is in the right position, the idle screw is also fully unscrewed.

Really not sure what it could be, as it was idling fine just before I cleaned the carb I must have installed it incorrectly. If anyone has any ideas about what I could do that'd be much appreciated.

So the throttle slide is visually at the bottom of its range of movement, resting on the idle screw?

Is the needle still in position in the bottom of the throttle slide? They can get pushed up as you insert them.

Did you remember to put the spring back in?

Seriously though, take off the airbox and hose and work the throttle and see if it's moving up and down smoothly. If it's at all "crunchy" there might be a bit of grit jamming up the slide.
