No Bikers Allowed!

Well, I thought it about time I wrote about a particularly interesting experience I had on Monday evening.

A small group of us (5) had dropped our camping gear off after brands hatch and decided to go to a pub so we could all have a natter about the weekend and some food.

One of our number remembered a lovely little pub just off J4 M25 called the Little Bo Peep. Not being far we all agreed it sounded like a plan and headed off.

We parked up our bikes, with little fuss and proceeded to enter said establishment. I took the lead and had a brief search for tables. I turn around and the manager is standing in front of us saying "no no no, sorry no bikers".

I couldn't believe my ears. I asked him if he was serious? He was. I asked if he would have turned us away if we parked down the road, he simply said sorry no bikers. I asked him if he hadn't seen the only guy who was in full leathers and the bikes how he would know that we were bikers, he said well that as it may you are cannot stay here.

I have never met with such a prejudiced and ridiculous situation. I explained that we were simply 2 ladies and 3 gentleman and wish only to eat and chat. I asked him why there was no clear sign proclaiming no bikers allowed, he said there was. We checked outside, there was no sign clearly showing this. I later went back to confront him and he showed me a sign which had the writing warn away. It could have said anything. I asked if car drivers never caused him trouble. I also pointed out that we had been quiet and that 2 other customers had told us that they could not believe the way in which we were treated.

We deliberately left quietly to avoid proving his ridiculous prejudice. But I am still pretty angry that the transport I arrive on should dictate that I am unworthy of being treated as a human being.

Has anyone else been the subject of this kind of prejudice?

Worst I've had is my boss at work single me out and say I've got to arrive earlier if I have to get changed into my uniform (which I already did anyway). Most other people arrive in their personal clothes anyway and if anything i'm the quickest to change.

Other than that I've always felt quite welcome, just out of place because of all the kit i'm wearing.

I haven't suffered from it personally, though when I was camping in the Peaks somewhere (can't remember the campsite unfortunately) a sensible, middle aged, couple who were next to me were touring on a bike.

We had been for a wonderful meal in the pub on the main road just up the hill and recommended it to them. When they tried to go and have food there they were turned away because they were bikers wearing leathers.

It is crazy to think that this kind of prejudice still lies within some establishments, but at the end of the day - they are the ones loosing business. Think about how much money he lost turning away a group of five people, food - minimum £5 a head - that's £25 immediately, without drinks.

Only happened once, when a group of ten of us were turned away for being "bikers".

The same group of us went back a week later in civvies and in cars. We ordered all of our drinks and meals, which were to be paid for after the meal.

As the waitress finished putting all of the food on the table, we called the manager over, apologised profusely, and said, "we're really sorry you've prepared all this food and drink but we can't eat it because you don't serve bikers!"

Then we all got up and walked out. Don't know how much it cost him!

Drop the prick in it,

write a posh letter proclaiming to be the P.A. to either some major company director or some lord farquad or something.
Stating the dismay his Lordship felt at being discriminated against in such a away, particularly as his Lordship was possibly considering utilising the facilities for an upcoming major event that would have brought several hundred peers to the vicinity, also state his Lordship is a close personal friend of either the local magistrate or mayor.

It won't gain you anything bar the satisfaction of wiping the smug smile off his face, and the certainty that if you turn up mob handed with bikers again you are sure of a warm welcome.

It happens everywhere and has been doing for years.

I've been refused entry back into a pub after leaving it for half an hour to go home & get changed.

Sadie's way of dealing with it has been done many times, and is always the best way to get even. It can also be done by getting a large group to go in first and order a vary large and expensive round, Then get those wearing leathers to walk in. The Landlords reaction of 'We don't serve bikers' is then met with 'But they're the ones with the money for this round'. Cue casual stroll out, leaving all those nice drinks to go to waste Laughing

There is a pub on the A272 between Petersfield and the Meon Hut , think it's called the seven oaks or something?!?! (it's the one just by petersfield service station) .. they are apparantly very anti-bike, so much so that they filled their car park with deep gravel!!!! We went in there once, they did serve us and werent nasty or anything but apparantly in the past they've had trouble with "bikers" hence the deep gravel...!

Another 'my mate did this story' that you probably wont believe...

A guy at work used to be into bikes until he was hit by an oncoming bike whilst leaned over and nearly lost his arm!

He tells stories of towing bikes, white lining on the outside of the outside lane on the motorway etc, so he was pretty heavy into it.

He and some pals had the same problem just outside carlisle, one of the gang had some kind of two stroke, (poss an 350 LC?) so 3 of them backed the bike into the doorway and fired it up and revved the bollox off it for about five mins until it was filled with the two poke smoke! Instant result!

I've had a similar problem with a campsite in Cornwall, Booked to go with my mate for his wedding, We booked it all then asked about bike parking, they wanted more to park a bike than a car.... No biggie whatever, Then they wanted to move us into another field (away from my mate) because we're bikers and apparently make to much noise... I wrote a slightly shitty email back, nothing nasty, no swearing just a little sarcastic.

They then proceeded to ring my mate and tell him they were thinking about banning him from the campsite because of us, He ofcourse blamed us...

I was fuming.
