The plastic sleeving on my abus chain has completely perished & the chain is damaging the paint on my wheels. Does anyone know where I can buy new sleeving? I dont want to buy a new chain as they were pretty dear. https://homepage.ntlworld.com/suzian/Files/abus.jpg

https://motraxonline.com/acatalog/securitychains.html

At the bottom of this page is a cheaper option, as long as your chain is <2m then this would do.

If you are really on a budget you could just whip some gaffa around it.

Think you can get some by motrax or even oxford. Oxford stuff is good, mine looks in spiffing condition, and its been on and off my back wheel and lampost every day for last 5 months.

But that plasticky crap you refer to....mine came off my other chain too. The stuff just falls to pieces, and I'm not overly sure why!

I've got the same thing with my Abus chain but what I've cunningly decided to do, and being a cheap skate, is put an old sheet over the bit that the chain lies on. Wink

Stick it in an old bicycle inner tube.

Use a little WD40 to allow it to slide in.

Try writing a letter to Abus, telling them how disappointed you are in the quality of the chain you have bought, and that you don't expect the plastic on an expensive chain to perish, allowing the chain to damage your bike.

They may ignore it, they may send you some vouchers or they may even send you a replacement Cool

Mines in an inner tube too. A little awkward to get in but it works a treat.
