Looking for some advice. I'm new to bikes, and I need to change my engine oil. Would anyone have any recommendations for me?

I also have an issue where my back break light is sticking. Any advice in regards to this also.

Thanks in advance.

First off, more a Workshop thread than General.

If you're starting from scratch and know nothing about bikes you're probably best off getting the relevant Haynes manual for your model. Google can be a wonderful thing for finding answers but only if you know what question to ask Smile

Back brake - is it a drum on a '93? Probably there's a little pull switch attached to the pedal via a wire link. You could try loosening it up (i.e. giving the link a little more slack) or maybe the switch is just old.

Starting point would be to look in the handbook for that bike's specifications (oil).

As for brand (and tweaking the grade +-) you'll get 100 different answers having started an 'oil thread'.

Stickiness (oo, err missus) can often be resolved with petrol. If you mean light staying on or staying off when it shouldn't, then it will be the relevant switch, front or rear at fault (if all adjustments are in order).

@Easy-X Yeah, I probably should have posted under workshop.

@F-18 thanks for the information. I read some old posts about honda CG-125, but the thread was 10 years old. Didn't want to Necro, and prices have changed etc. Was just curious if there was a recommended oil to use etc.

I'll check a handbook for guidance.

The back break light; stays on once I push the break down. It will go off if I lift the pedal up. I've seen on a YouTube video that sometimes the switches can stick, and could need lubing?

Thanks guys I appreciate the help.

Thank you. How difficult would something like this be to replace?

Not that hard. Try it if you get stuck post back. But please the spelling is 'brake'. 'Break' means several things but is not a term for your stoppers.

Brake light switches get sticky. Spray a bit of WD40 into it and operate the brake a few times and it should free off.

Any 10W40 bike oil will do. Whatever is cheapest. A CG doesn't need anything special.
