 |
|
Hello,
I have a Z900 2020 and I am wanting to stick an SC Project titanium full exhaust system (Header Link) with the SC Project S1 end can (End-can Link) but I can't figure out anywhere nor get a response form SC - Project if this full kit is road legal.
The exhaust system is EURO 4 compliant and the endcan is EURO 4 and EURO 5 complaint but I am not sure if there is anything else that would make it illegal AND I do not know if it is too loud to pass an MOT (I am in the UK).
Please tell me someone here knows the answer to these mysterious questions. |

The "for race use only" needs to be clearly stamped on bike components for MoT testers to take notice. They're not going to Google search the headers and go "Aha!" An end-can/muffler/silencer/whatever might be so marked but not the particular one you've linked.
tl;dr forget the racing bit in this scenario.
The simple description: you have a de-catted or straight thru' exhaust system. As the MoT test doesn't cover emissions on bikes other than noise just do what everyone else: whack the baffle in, get it tested, whip it out before you head to work at 6am ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Fuel injected bikes tend to run richer not leaner.
Guy: You're unlikely to cause engine damage but you might notice it's nowhere as smooth at low throttle settings. If the extra noise and prospect of 20yrs of constant tinnitus excites you - take the baffle out and don't bother with ear plugs. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

If you just change out the exhaust components and leave the stock airbox nothing dramatic is going to happen. I would imagine it'll run a touch leaner and you might have some more pops and crackles.
It's something I've weighed up for my XSR. Pipes are pretty cheap as they're 99% the same as the MT07. A new can would sound nice as the stock "bread box" cat affair is pretty tame. The airbox mod is dead easy...
But! Minimum £150 to post off the ECU for a reflash TBH I don't need the extra power - might get oooh, +4bhp!!! ffs - but tweaking the low end throttle response that's usually bundled into the new program does sound kinda tempting ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
