i wired the battery up but its still killing bulbs, the rectifier must be dead  ____________________ Derbi supermoto with cr500 engine, niceee |

Probably the voltage regulator part of the reg/rec.
Some bikes have a ballast resistor connected in paralell with the headlamp bulb (noteably older CG125s and H100s) if these fail or become disconnected, they will pop bulbs. I doubt your bike has one though as they are pretty old fashioned, I have only ever seen them on 6v direct lighting setups.
As Git says, get a voltmeter accross the battery terminals and measure the voltage with a few revs on. If it is going much above 14.5 volts, the regulator is shot. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
