How??!!

I've got a bolt on the footrest hanger which is loosened off using an Alum key but it's done and won't come lose.

I've also got 2 screws on the mudguard (star shape) that also won't budge. Any tips???

Wd-40 good to start with.
There is a trick where you go to tighten first (this is supposed to crack loose any gunge/rust) before undoing.

Use good quality allen keys. Or get the bits to fit into a ratchet set (more leverage).

The star shaped ones will need a TORQ (or is that torx) set.
If you haven't got then the bits can be got from the likes of B&Q, Halfords, etc to put into a ratchet.

If WD-40 fails get an impact driver onto it.

HTH Thumbs Up

Hi

Make sure you spray some WD40 (or even better a dedicated penetrating oil) on the exposed threads around the back of the footrest hanger. Also try cleaning them up. They are likely to be fairly dirty and corroded with stuff flung up by the back wheel.

All the best

Keith

Make sure its a good set of allen keys you have. When I was fitting my R&G's the engine bolts were solid. The allen key just snapped.

You can also try tapping the head of the bolt/screw firmly with a hammer, as this can also sometimes break the seal. Thumbs Up

3in1 penetrating spray can of oil and definitely get an impact driver from Halfords as it does the job extremely well. Also, you can try using a set of large pliers to grip the the edge of a screw as that will also do the job, but the impact driver is much better !

If you're worried about chewing up Philips head screws trying to undo them, a tip I'd give is to use a straight bladed screwdriver instead. That and squirting it with 3 in 1 penetrating oil and leaving overnight - it helps, but not always. Being able to use a ratchet to undo them is pretty useful too.
