GSX600F carb issues.

Greetings folks.

We picked up a 94 Suzuki GSX600F for my wife. Unfortunately the previous owner had re-jetted the thing and stuck a set of godawful foam filters on it. I ordered new original jets, o-rings, gaskets etc. Problem is I discovered each chamber has this little black plastic plug like thing the position of which defeats me. On opening the float chamber the thing fell out before I could locate it's position. In fact the only one that didn't fall out looked as if it shouldn't be where it was. I can't locate the part in any of the manual's exploded views or pictures. Hopefully someone knows what to do with the things. The floats themselves are a two part plastic assembly that has has to be split to remove the float needle.

I thought that too so here you go. It also occurs this might require an o-ring, but there wasn't one on any of the parts.

The parts as best I can tell were seated under the float needle, but one of them was in the port slightly above and left of the main jet. Hence the confusion over where they should be. They're also quite loose in either position which is why I mention o-rings.

Blanks off the pilot jet main feed so it uses the side feed on the jet tower instead. Available new but not cheap.

They are held in by the rubber serrations alone, so especially with modern fuel, they tend to shrink and try and fall out. If they are slack the bike will run rich. I think it was an attempt to give a more stable pilot mixture but it's a pain in the arse.

So put simply I have to replace them as the raised section of the plugs are all smooth. Thanks for the advice. I'll have a word with my local bike guys and see if they can get the parts. I'll have a wee gander on the internet as well. I presume they're referred to as main jet blanks or something similar. Many thanks again sir, you're a star. Smile
