Honda CD200 Swing Arm Replacement

Hi all!

I’ve just purchased a Honda CD200 to repair. And have noticed that the metal joining the two sides of the swing-arm a is made out of rust. Can literally poke a hole through it!

After scouring on the internet I have not found replacements available - so this is my last shot, does anyone have one lying around that I could purchase? I’m based in the UK.

Check the frame hasn't gone the same way before you spend a load on it. Those pressed steel frames are rotboxes.

They're all built to a similar patterns as the early CXs which
often suffered the same way
I must have rebuilt about 8 CX ones over the years for myself and others

The swinging arm for the CD200T is the same as for the CD185T,which may well broaden your search.

Sorry all! Didn’t even cross my mind to post photographs. The rust is from where the bike was sat for 20 years with a leak in the roof directly dripping on it. The rest is fine! Do you reckon a welder could fill that in and pass an MOT? Or is the metal too thin in that area?

Anything else to warn of this bike before I begin to disassemble?

I've had a look for the CD125, and 185 - also nothing sadly.

Yes! I've taken side panels off, and the tank. All seems to be in good shape. Was just the drip area that got destroyed! Seat leather also turned to mush because of it!

Picture is showing now. Hard to say, it'll certainly need patching.

If it were me, I'd take it off, take pictures from all angles then have a go at it with a rotary wire brush and see what's left at the end. It's certainly not useable as it is.

If it turns into a huge pile of rust flakes, it wasn't fixable. If it's just a few holey gussets and the rest is solid, it may be able to be patched.

I had a chat with Paully and he mentioned that he has a spare but as he is building up another Benley then he is keeping a hold of it.

But he did say that he has bought a few items from a place in india called Honda Roadmaster.

Whereabouts are you based? I run a fabrication workshop, and have blokes that would quite happily mess about on that in there lunch break for a few beer tokens.

If the swingarm is that bad, I would recommend getting a really good look at the frame in that area. If it has a cross brace between the footpegs, it's likely to also be fucked.
