It's pissed down all morning here, really heavy rain at times. It's stopped a couple of times for 20 minutes here or there
and is stopped right now but my back garden is like a swamp. Just been out to change the batteries on my shed alarm
which has been beeping at me all morning to tell me it needs new ones and it was a squelch fest walking across the lawn.
No way I'm rolling a minter out across all that mud and the roads are still soaking wet so it's going nowhere today even
if the rain doesn't come back. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

KwikFit: The upselling is mad. Take the car in because the front brake pads are truly shot and the discs very likely shot as well so prepared for that then after their "free inspection" they quote £950 worth of works; the pads, discs, flexi pipes, brake pipes, universal joint boot, suspension bushes and front shocks! Its like there wasnt a single bolt on the car didn't need replacing. Anyway thanks but no thanks just do the discs and pads, how much will that be. £270 ok just do that. Sheeeshh. If I had a garage or at least a driveway id do it myself but my days of scrabling about in the street mucking around under cars is years past so im sanguine about the extra cost to go to a garage and I knew KwikSting would attempt to upsell but jezuss they sure go for it big time.
Yeah, I know KwikFit |

I'd be tempted to ask them to show me all those faults there and then. I think there is a partial liability thing possibly going on now too though and they are possibly wary of advising a vehicle is "perfectly safe" when sending you on your way, with the only way to be sure is to replace everything ; I think they will make assumptions (I know, not a good start) about your frequency of visiting a workshop, then advise on what *might* become defective in the intervening period. I had this from the Honda dealer on my VFR; they suggested the pads were "half worn, might be worn out before your next service, do you want us to change them?". Ha, err no I can see if they are worn myself thanks and will deal with it *if* the need arises. ____________________ TG. |

Equally, That's something I want them to tell me when I take my company van in for service. If a part isn't going to make it until the next service, I want it sorted now because having it out of action for the day is a pain in the backside and probably costs the company more than the extra few months of brake pad is worth. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Been for hearing test - put it off for years. The quack described my hearing as like listening to music when someone's punctured the treble cone. Sadly, unless you are Barry White, that is the bit of range that normal speech sits in. Too many years riding bikes without earplugs methinks.
Going for my aids fitting next week. The quack said it should be like when I first tried on glasses - a revelation! Lets hope.... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Youngest daughter has just got a new job as yard manager of a riding school in Richmond, where the toffs live
It's living in and she can take her horse down with her and put it in the stables. All good and I have access to a horse lorry, an old vehilce but in good condition to take said horsey down to Richmond from it's stables in MK.
But the ULEZ charge levied by Gruppenfurher Khan, for 24 hors for the horse box is..........................
£300
Fcuk me sideways. It's cheaper to hire a horsebox for £50 a day and hitch it to my mates Dacia sh1t box. Bloody ridiculous. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Confirms that London is a waste of space and not worth the effort to visit.
I shall continue my boycott of the place.
It will eventually disappear up its own arse/under Thames. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
