On my bike there seems to be a slight gap between 2nd and 3rd, ive been told that this isnt a big problem so i was wondering if any of you fellows get it ?
By a gap i dont mean a great space i mean, when i get lazy i often fall between the gears, especialy setting of fast from traffic lights Razz

bit of a pain but is it just me ?

Steve.

Hi

Fairly common, but tends to be triggered by poor clutch adjustment. Might be worth adjusting the gear lever down slightly so you are more likely to lift it properly into position.

All the best

Bad chain adjustment sometimes causes it too, I was forever getting false neutrals on my fireblade, it's just the gearbox, both of them did it.

Does anyone else get a nasty crunch when they change from first into second when reving the knackers off of it?

All my bikes seem to have done it apart from my RS125, normally have to wait for the revs to die down in 1st gear before knocking it up...

Maybe its just my shoddy gear changes.

Just give the gear lever a good shove when changing gear.

I have been lazy and redlined (false neutral) it when trying to change into 6th at 75mph Shocked

I can almost hear ste laughing Laughing

I done it a couple of times on my er5, just when I started using the er5. All sorted now though, might just be becasue I use big steel capped boots to change gear. Rather positive changes I tell you Laughing

Just tried not using the clutch for the first time the other day. Bit overrated Laughing

I used to get this on my bike, it's common on bikes. It used to do it more harshly, which leads me to believe technique can help overcome it. It needs a fair whack up from 1-2. Quick clutch and quick forceful whack up. Thumbs Up

From 1-2 (unless I'm not revving it hard), I'll use clutchless and it slots nicely in. Again needs a fair amount of force for that particular change.

From my experience a bike gearbox will need different inputs depending on the load and which gear changes. For example 1-2 and 5-6 need a more positive shift on mine. Higher revs also needs a more forceful shift, particulary when doing clutchless. I guess different gearboxes have different characteristics, which you will have to adapt to.
