Cleaned the CBRs sump and near the gear selection shaft as there seems to be an oil leak. I've ridden it a few times over the last week and it's not losing a lot but there's been a few drops on the floor.

Hopefully not the output shaft, as round the sprocket seemed fine.

Project Scrappy Hyosung: I pulled the rear master cylinder apart.
All seems good in there. All the seals appear to be in good order.
A few bits cleaned up and I’ll put it back together sometime soon.

Slid the Fireblade on the floor on the way to work yesterday via an unexpected and abrupt end to gritting. Crash bungs did well.

Cursory look over shows that I'll need a genny cover (purely cosmetic, it doesn't leak) and possibly some indicators. Will have a good look when the white stuff fucks off. Already ordered new bungs. Back is sore, but me and the bike got off lightly.

A few things in the past couple of evenings on a few different bikes.

Hopefully tracked down intermittent charging on ETZ251. Loose earth wire from regulator.


I have replaced the throttle cable on the ES250/2 finally with a brand new one - was using the original 50 year old one that had a stretchy and split outter sheeth. Replaced the two speedo illumination bulbs (6v 1.2w), replaced the brake lever clamp with an unsplit one, and unseized the front brake by lubricating the brake cable and all pivot points within the drum. Lever now returns back to the neutral position you would want it to be, instead of staying stuck at the angle you last used it at.

I'll now have the space to continue working on putting together my ETZ250 engine after a replacement crankshaft and main bearings and getting it back in frame asap. The reason being one of the old bearings inner race was spinning on the crankshaft. Engine just needs clutch cover put back on, really.

Put the battery on charge and felt at home even just sitting on it.

This past weekend was my first volunteering to ride for Blood Bikes (Lincolnshire) and for a good few hours on each day I was riding a Versys 650 which was entirely okay. A decent amount taller than my XJ6N but being out on the bike (even in the -1 degree weather) made me want to get out on mine.

I dropped the bike off to the next volunteer thius morning and when I got back home I wondered 'How would my bike fel, now?' Turns out even just man-handling it a bit and sitting on it, it felt small, light and agile. Hoping to get out on it towards the end of the week!

Over the last few months I have toyed with idea of changing my bike many times but getting on it this afternoon just felt so comfortable, and I know I don't need any more performance than it. I hold the bike back more than it holds me back.

Engine back in the frame and all completely in one piece. Just waiting for some RTV to dry, then I can put trans oil in tomorrow and give it a few kicks and see how we go!

I tried to start up my bike project (yep, it's mostly done). Wiring is a rat's nest (it's just a test rig). Tried to start it, and "click" from the solenoid. Nothing. Indicators and headlight also need sorting. Oh well. Battery's strong but will investigate. No hurry.

Fitted a top box adapter to my fz8 as it came with another brand frame... The adapter seems pretty good... Though the rubber spacers are a tad large. Hoping they wear in a little and it gets a little easier to place and remove the top box.
