Was riding on the motorway last night, had a quick glance down at my dials... was doing around 80 Wink (honest officer!), but then as I looked down, the needles on both the rev counter and speedo just dropped, but the power wasnt affected? I f**king sh*t myself at the time though!

Since then, when I rode it again last night and even this morning, the needles are fluctuating.. one minute working fine, the next minute not working.... but at the same time the needles move, the headlight flickers on and off? So now not only are my needles playing up, as far as other road users are concerned, i'm flashing them! lol!

The bike has just had a big service, new battery is in place, so I might take it back to the garage that did the work, see if they can sort this out. Hopefully its a 2 minute job and easy to fix, but anyone any ideas as to what is causing this? Thanks!

What age is your bike? I had a similar problem on mine, kept losing the speedo, when I twisted the accelerator. Found it was the speedo sensor that was the problem, replaced it not had a problem since.

Yes, I would remove the fuel tank and look underneath there because you'll no doubt find the wiring looms connection blocks to the front of the bike which probably haven't been cleaned out with WD40 since day one. So disconnect/reconnect them and spray the connections thoroughly with WD40 even where the wires go into the back of the connection block too to remove the possibility oil or build of crap from the road that has no doubt built up in them.

Ok, will give this a bash! This wouldnt have been triggered off by the garage when they stripped and serviced the bike though would it?

They may have not realised that one of the wires in the connection block may have been pushed out a bit and so you're getting intermitent connection of power to your bike's guages.

It's the same then, have a look later or when you get chance, it's a small type block sticking out near the top of the clutch housing!

If you take the left hand faring off, you should find all the connector blocks.
