The little bastard keeps messing up my rubics cube and then gets annoyed when I solve it in front of him.

Mental resilience is very hard to quantify but AFAIK the only very tenuous link is to intelligence. Let's just say if you're lacking the capacity to be self-critical you're less likely to dwell on violent events you've experienced.

I know the US army have min I.Q. for recruitment.
Apparently a lot of blunted tools were recruited/drafted/volunteered for action in Nam.

It didn't help things as dumb on the battle field is as useful as stupid on a building site or in a factory.
Dumb/stupid works well in agriculture.

And it seems to be tollerated in the oil field for what they call Roustabouts. (labourers who lift heavy things and stuff.)

New chains!

Yesterday, I had a friend of mine to check my bicycle. After a ride in heavy rain, the bottom bracket started to click and make other noises. I don't have the tools to do the job. Anyway, he fixed that, and he also replaced the chain as well, as it was very worn. It was the original Decathlon fitted chain (Tribal RC500), roughly 5K km on it and it was so stretched it was almost one link longer than a brand-new chain, of the same link count. Shocked

Today I rode the bicycle to my garage and the bike felt like brand new and even better, to be honest.

In my garage, I replaced the final drive chain on my XBR. The previous chain wasn't that bad, but even though I cleaned it several times, lubed it, it didn't feel smooth any more. It was on the bike for who knows how long before I bought the motorcycle. The fresh chain made my 1987 motorcycle ride like a brand-new machine, and that oiled my gears.

If the bottom bracket is clicking, the chain was extended one link then you probably need new sprockets and chain rings too.

It's so satisfying when a chain breaks and your off road somewhere tranquil. Shocked

The groupset seems fine. I suspect the bike builder used a cheap soft metal chain on the bike. I mean, there is no way I could feck up a regular bike chain this much in just 5K kilometres.

Assuming it's a 116 link chain, that's slightly more than 1% wear.

Chains don't actually stretch, it's the rivets and rollers that wear causing the pitch of each link to increase. Wink

I am fully aware of how chain wear works.

My mate's chain wear gauge tool almost touched the next link pin after the one that it was supposed to touch. Also, I can now use the smallest cog on the cassette without grinding noises, which is cool, although I rarely use it. Thinking

It's 52/10 ratio, that's like 65 km/h+ at alright cadence. How often do you produce such speed on your bicycle on a flat piece of road? Shocked

I can do 60 km/h like that and only in a very short burst of energy, then I'm done for the day. Laughing

My bike has fatter tyres, high bars and I rarely ride on the road so not comparable.

Friday ride home from work on my bicycle oiled my gears today. Thumbs Up

The bike just flies now that it's got a fresh chain. I gave it 70% effort, wearing plain shorts and a t-shirt (not really aero), and did 12 km in 27 minutes (reaching quite frequently 40 km/h on the straights; the top speed being 43 km/h) at 28 °C, a bit windy in some places, jumping over bumps, ascending 67 m. The traffic on the cycle path was also quite dense. That being said, usually I get much closer to 30 minute mark at this kind of relaxed pace.

Went cycling to meet Nobby at a pub, saw someone who looked like him waiting on the towpath where I was meant to be meeting him so I cycled up behind them and shouted "BERTIE" at them.

Turns out that they weren't Nobby. Laughing

I was outside the pub in question and saw him go past and continue along the aquaduct and wondered 'where the fuck is that ejit going?'

Turns out I hadn't read the message that said 'meet on the aquaduct.'

I didn't hear or see him shout 'BERTIE' at a random individual.

The former Senior Consort texted me today to tell me he thinks he has made "a terrible mistake" by letting the Russian come back to live with him Laughing

I agreed with him; even though it was rubbing salt into the wound I also mentioned I had thought from the start that she was probably a gold digger because Russian, duh!

I suggested he grow a pair and kick her AND his cvnt of an ex wife into touch and he would have a much more peaceful life.

But I didn't offer to return Laughing

Haha, the funniest thing about that video is that apparently that's exactly what his life is like these days.
Only I am not present to do any shit-stirring soothe his fevered brow *boo hoo*

Karma is always a bitch.
Miaow

That's a hilarious video BTW, excellent. We're only two minutes in, and Dennis is quite concerned: she has come up to sit beside me to see what is going on Laughing

I was looking for the typical "omg, I accidently forgot reflections were a thing" but still couldn't find anything. Kept me busy for 5 mins though Smile
