Suzuki bandit died and won’t start

Hello guys. I’m kinda in a big pickle. I have a 2002 bandit 1200n. Has 17k miles, bought with 15k, and up to now has ran great.
My ride to work is about 45 minutes. About 35 minutes in, running 80-85 down the interstate, the bike starts sputtering and lurching and loses power. Almost feels like it’s only running on one or two cylinders and missing bad. It would accelerate, but slowly. I didn’t change gears for fear of it dying. Slowed down and sputtered to my turn off about a mile more down the road. Sure enough, Clutch in was immediate shut off. Bike died like I hit the kill switch. Electrics seem fine, gauges and lights come on with the key. But the starter just spins. Visibly everything seems fine
It was running perfect. When I started it this morning it started on the second fire, no choke. Just like always.

Turn the fuel tap to the PRI position. It could be that the fuel tap is not getting vacuum from the small vac line. They can split where they connect to the throttle body barb (which I believe should be No2 carb but I'm not sure.

One of your ignition coils is failing. When being used they get warm and as it warms it stops working. Once it's cooled down it starts working again. Rinse and repeat.

I guess I should mention I don’t have the factory petcock. It’s an aftermarket one with regular old on/off/reserve.

Bad coil. Odd it happens now. I have ridden a good bit longer without issue.

Also, as I am sitting on the side of the road currently waiting on my wife, I may have found another problem. Looks like there’s nothing holding the starter in. Wonderful. Doesn’t surprise me though. Guy I bought it from lied about a lot

Carb icing maybe? What was the weather like? Cool (not necessarily cold) and humid will do it.

Yank the pipe off the fuel tap and see if fuel runs.

It’s 72 degrees so I think the carbs are ok. Could be clogged somewhere. I just got home, I guess I’ll grab my truck and trailer and go get it and I’ll just have to pull it apart and see what’s going on. I’ll look into all that. Thank yall

Well so I got the bike home. Starter clutch and flywheel were loose. Started right back up. Hopefully problem solved

Ah yes. On the weather forecast. Usually when it either going to kill the elderly because its bitterly cold or sweltering hot so they dress accordingly.

Personally I use SI units so the thermostat for my heating is set to 291K.
