£75 purchased from their stand at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham on Saturday. Spent a very pleasant day wandering the stalls, sampling all manner of grub and drinks. I settled for this bottle after quite a few nips. Rather special.... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Another shed:

Built this for my mum today.
Took some liberties with laying the roof felt. The instructions said to wrap and tack around the roof sheets then nail the sheets to the shed but cheap felt is way too brittle for that. ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

A little old lady gave me this for pulling her car off a wet field with quad bike.
I don't think it will stay unopened until Christmas.
I'm actually impressed she got something really nice to drop off.

I had to get gears for a 90° drive made for a jib we were clashing together.
The previous repairers got a local engineers to make the gears first. They ingeniously grindeded the teeth off of an old truck diff.
Weldeded the teeth onto the bare stumps of the original gears.
Aye....
I got sizes from an old drawing and sent it to an engineer in UK. He said it was out of his Wheelhouse but he knew a guy.
The guy he knew just happened to own an engineering shop that had been going for about 100yrs. Them and another place in Spain were the only places in Europe with a mill that could machine that type of helix.
It was an American gear and the people in the States who made the drive were out of business.
It was made, it was very expensive but it worked perfectly when we built the box up again.

Yes, three gear trains, one doing indexing for the tooth count, one doing feed rate for the cutter head, and one driving the internal differential to add/remove turn of the blank for cutting the helix angle. All independantly calculated and set but all running in sync with each other to make the gear. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

A very expensive multi-itinerary conversion plug-socket thingie* which it wasn't until I had bought it that I realised it probably only accepts a European plug.
I don't even know - I'm too tired to figure out how the fuck it works. Its got sliders and stuff on it, but not an English pluggy-in bit - only European
I was distracted by the fact that it had two USB charging sockets on the side of the thing and I thought I could charge my phone AND my battery pack at the same time.
Luckily I found a seat in the Departures lounge that had a USB charging point beside it.
*(at the airport on the way home, cos my battery was running low and I forgot my European one and I was worried my phone would run out and I wouldnt be able to show them my bloody electronic bloody boarding bloody card ) ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |
