^^^ Agreed ^^^

One of the first things we were taught in Marine school was not to put your thumbs round the starting handle of lifeboat diesel engines as the kickback if you got it wrong would be rather debilitating. Obviously a bit like kick starting a Panther. Get it wrong and it bloody hurts Laughing

Many places that I have worked have insisted that you reverse parked in their car parks.

My boss has taken me off doing the minutes for another one of the meetings, which is kind of "Yay" but rather annoyingly this is one of the ones that I liked. Possibly I spent too much time perving on the Operations Director instead of taking notes Laughing he's got big hands and a lovely Scottish accent Wub And the Chair is very nice too.

But I suppose I can't just be doing meetings all the time. I'd probably get bored of them eventually.

Or it could just be that they're fed up of attending meetings for which I have fucked up the calendar or the Teams link Thinking Shifty
Laughing Laughing

Fortunately the boss has found other more interesting projects for me to do, so I don't mind as much as I might.

Faffing about with spreadsheets (in an extremely simplistic way) is surprisingly satisfying. Must be my inner geek Laughing

But I think he's giving me the admin on some other more clinical meetings to bugger about with. I'm looking forward to that. "There's only one a month" sez he. O Rly? Sez me Cool

Its not that I am running out of work, that will never happen in the NHS. Its definitely a challenging job, in a good officey, pen-pushery kind of way.

I'm trying to avoid learning how to create my own dataset requirements. I might find it too interesting and end up down a wormhole Laughing

I build spreadsheets for equipment maintenance that tracks service data by simply updating equipment running hours once a week.
It is in addition to the corporate system which is a beast to operate if you just want to know when the last faxking oil change was.
The guy who is in the chair when I'm off doesn't excel.

He uses excel to compile lists.
We have hundreds of dumb lists.
I deleted a wad last hitch.
No one noticed they were gone.

But then I have to update the service sheet coz numb nuts doesn't.

Traditionally, places used a whiteboard but they also need updating and nofuker ain't got no time for dat either.

This edjit thinks changing oil and filters whenever it comes up his humph is maintenance. Rolling Eyes

I'm not at that end of the facility.

Those particular Oil Patch types feel that coz they get covered in s4ite at work, that they work hard.
They don't understand that we hire them just to lift heavy things for us. Cool

He looks very well, subtly tanned and fit whereas I am fat, farty and frumpy and still haven't had a shower today. Better pull my finger out.

Ate something that disagreed with me.

Just made it to the bathroom in time but didn't get the toilet lid up in time.

Messy!! Embarassed

First time I've thrown up in about 30 odd years!
Did not like.

Kunt in the room next-door plays Spanish Crap loud at 05:00 just as my kunt-whole alarm sounds. Absolutely no insight.

I think Sony Speaker will be deployed tomorrow at 04:48.

Vivaldi 4 See-Saws at volume mark 10.

Boots.

A year in Inov8 Roclite 400 and they're only fit for dry walks.

I've worn them everyday for a year and do a fair distance each day..so I obviously clean them and use that Grainger Nik-wax spray..they still look like they've been dragged behind the van.

Oh they're comfy and light and okay for folk like me that get Plantar, but once a boot lets water in they're useless.

The Alt-Bergs were good...I went through 2 pairs but my they're heavy old things...The Meindl and Scarpa likewise...The KSBs fell apart..Berghaus..The Salewa Repace are okay but a little OTT for all year round.
What else have I used...pretty much all the expensive ones over the decades.

The search goes on...and Goretex is balderdash...Oh aye I'm proper grump at the mo.

I’ve belatedly realised that using ‘Fix My Street’ and similar sites is futile, and instead I should write a drama about potholes. It’s the only way to get results.

This ^^^

I've got two pairs of "high Liability" boots that I picked up for a snip on eBay, a pair of Haix desert boots, and a pair of Altberg Defenders.

The Altbergs are really comfy and with a generous application of Leder Gris, waterproof to the extent I was standing in a 10cm deep puddle clearing a drain the other week and my feet stayed dry and warm. The downside is I can't seem to get on with their lacing system.

The Haix, however have a cleverly designed two zone lacing system which means you can tighten the footbed up really snugly and lock the laces securely , and then lace the ankle and calf section a bit looser for comfort. They're also very waterproof and have a Goretex liner that really works, are really comfy, warm (with a pair of Bridgedale socks), and quite light for their size. They're my go to boot for just about everything.

Both types have very grippy soles as well.

After a recommendation on here I bought some Vivos - very light duty hiking boots - similar lacing system and TBH I'm loving 'em Smile

Had a new diabetic nurse this morning, Had to go through everything again, had to go through her tutting and telling me not to eat white food or sugar or anything yummy. Just keep giving me my insulin and leave me alone.

I wear haix boots 12+ hours every day for 35 days. (I take them off before bedtime.)

I saw a trick on YouTube for tying two-section laces.
After you tie the footbed, do the laces in a double double twist before lacing up the section that has hooks. It's supposed to maintain the lower sections tension and relieves the upper section.

My new diabetic nurse is a fit 20 something blonde.
She told me that I should stop masturbating.
I asked why?
She said, coz she was trying to measure my blood sugar.

The funny part is, I'm not even diabetic. Cool
