It might but it will buger up the handling. There are very few (if any) bikes that will take a wider section tyre without ruining the handling. Some people do it just for the look of the thing but why pay good money for a bike that someone has spend years researching a good handling package and then bollox it all up? ____________________ https://hyperbikes.forumsplace.com/ |

But do you really need a 180 tyre? If the 160 does the job that's all that is important isn't it? Afterall you will only be spending more money for more rubber that makes little difference. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Well to be honest I am geting a bit bored with my bandit I keep seeing 1200s and loving that wide tyre look. I just figured upgrading the tyre would keep my happy with the look of the bike longer which s probably a lot cheaper than buying a new bike
Im not really a poser so dont care what other people think. I want to do it just because thats how i want it to look. If its going to really screw the handling then it will have to stay 160. ____________________ Hold my beer and watch this! |

The difference will be the footprint of the tyre. The width of the tyre recommended takes the weight and the tyre pressure into consideration. My Bird runs at 42 psi front and rear with a 180 section tyre. It can take a 190 but then youd have to work out what the pressure should be to get the best footprint on the corners because the profile of the tyre will be different. If your not the knee down type then you might be able to get away with it but I would prefer to have a bike that was far more capable of handling anything I ask of it than one where I might eventualy find the limits and end up in a ditch. ____________________ https://hyperbikes.forumsplace.com/ |

Hey....wait one second. When you say you're bored with your bandit, how so? Looks? or performance? As I am thinking on one....and don't want to get bored as quickly |

Well looks really. Performance is pretty good. I would have been happier with a black one but there just werent any around when i bought mine.
I may get an aftermarket exhaust soon. with the extra noise i think it will keep my going. I just fancied a wide tyre to finish off the back end really. ____________________ Hold my beer and watch this! |

I think they have to be black. It is bright red and looks ok. I bought it cos it was mint with only 3600 miles on and it was the 2000 model ____________________ Hold my beer and watch this! |

I went out to buy a black blackbird (I mean how could it possibly be anything else?) but I found a blue one that was mint and got a good deal. Now I think the blue Brids are the best looking of the lot.
It's amazing how a few little things can cheer you up about your bike. I got some custom stickers made (of my avatar) for the fairings and they look cool (to me anyway).
Just personalize it a bit with stuff no one else has and it will feel more like your own bike. ____________________ https://hyperbikes.forumsplace.com/ |

There are countless things you can do to change the look of a Bandit, if you want.
Try here for starters
https://www.banditmania.co.uk/
Not really looked at this one but you never know
https://www.sukbog.co.uk/
and all the usual accessory places have loads of bits for them.
BTW I ended up with a red one, after looking for a black one. Never really liked the colour but the bike was OK. I kept it for six years anyway! |

just a little fact to keep in mind "Honda tested a 170 section rear tyre on the 2003 CBR 600RR and found it better in turn in and stability, but thought that people would not buy the bike because of it" now thats an onion in the ointment! something to think about anyway! remember how easy it was to throw those 125's and 250's into corners and around tight u-turns? ____________________ Those bloody footpegs......they ought to do away with em! |
