So, just spent the last few hours in a jail cell because of a fat bitch and her mutt!

Long story short, confronted bitch whose mutt had just shit on my driveway, five minutes later three of the knuckle dragging female relatives appeared banging on my door and hurling threats.

Police called, arrived with blue lights and sirens going, took my statement, went to talk to them, then came back and arrested me for confronting her and kicking dog ... and subsequently charged me under the animal welfare laws, even though I didn't touch the mutt!

Anyway, now looking at installing a standalone (if possible) CCTV system to try and give me some peace of mind ... needs to be able to record for a few days at least before automatically overwriting ... sub £200, any recommendations?

All the best ... Barry

I would just get a few Blink cameras personally with average sensitivity and a 128GB USB flash disk attached.

Mines not cost me £200 yet.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/all-new-blink-outdoor-wireless-weather-resistant-hd-security-camera-with-2-year-battery-life-motion-detection-2-camera-system/dp/B088CX996D?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

2 cams, sync unit, quick easy app. Record locally rather than cloud, storage hasn't been a problem.

I also have some more, the blinks are internet facing so just watch the main door, back door, my other setup is hardwired and local only, not exposed to net for reasons. Blink serves a purpose and its this personally.

I've got Tapco cameras and a doorbell. The nice thing is they all show up in the same app and very easy to use. Smart phone is obviously a prerequisite.

Any camera that has a MicroSD card slot for footage can record as much as you like, just insert a bigger card. For example, the camera I have to ostensibly keep an eye on my bike and the bins catches all sorts of stuff... unintentionally Wink and its 128GB card manages almost 2 months with the smart motion detection switched on. It apparently uses "AI" to label motion detection footage differently to person detection footage and it gets it right most of the time. (Motion = shitting dog, Person = fat b*tch!)

Sorry to say this but you either need to kill and bury her or start looking to move house.

Once she's realised she can do what the fuck she wants and the police will back her up, she will start doing what the fuck she wants.

Next time just sit quiet then post her dog shit back through her letterbox when she's out.

Problem is there are four of them, mind you I'm not sure if the youngest was female or male ... then of course if I got rid of them I'd then have the male scumbags to deal with as well.

Thankfully the cops locked up the three who were threatening me and my home ... oh sorry, that was in a different universe.

I contacted the cops again to see what they'll do about the dog shitting on my drive, still waiting for them to get back to me ... I expect fuck all to be done.

If it was on the pavement then the council would get involved, but I don't see anything about what happens if on private land, well apart from a neighbours dog shitting all over their property and not cleaning it up ... health hazard.

All I can think about is a brick coming through the window, my sense of peace and contentment has been shattered today.

Tapo C510 or similar - about £50
Pan/tilt and motion tracking

Eufy S230 Solar powered cam - currently about £105
Ideal if you don't want to muck about with any wiring

Both Wifi, both HD and both colour at night with spotlights and 2 way audio

I have the Tapo on my garage, looking down the drive and the Eufy looking at my kitchen doors

Have just ordered another Eufy one for a customer

Slightly over budget, but mine are all Nest cams. Doorbell, inside the garage, and back garden.

Main thing is that I have a month of video backed up in the cloud, whereas some of them only activate when it detects motion. There is a bit of battery and memory in each camera, so if there's a power cut I still have all the video. The doorbell one runs off the same power as my old doorbell did, no rewiring required.

If I was doing it all again now, I would probably do what Paddy did. My stuff is 5 years old now, and I wanted stuff that just worked. The choices back then were Ring or Nest if you wanted to trust it, and cheap no-name stuff if you wanted it cheap. Now there are more options.

I forgot to say - no subscription required for either Eufy or Tapo

I'd definitely recommend a powered one and 24/7 recording. All the battery ones are sensor based and you know that the one bit of recording you want won't be caught.

The Tapco I have isn't PoE but I ran CAT5 only to it and used these adapters:

I'll definitely go with a mains powered 24/7 camera, just need to decide which one now.

After referring to section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, I contacted my local council, asking about ... so looks like they can do something about it.

Most of the legislation seems to be about public places, but subsection (1)(b) talks about a land owner giving permission for dogs to foul on their land, I haven't given permission so they can be prosecuted Clapping

The next problem is evidence, yes I can say I saw them allowing their dog to foul, but I'm not sure if CCTV would be the seen as corroborating evidence, it may be that another person needs to witness it.

I'll get a camera up and running first, then I'll keep on hassling the council if she allows it again!

Mucho appreciated everyone ... Barry

CCTV evidence is fine. Corroboration would be a third party expert stating whether the system is set up correctly (e.g. the timestamp is accurate) and the footage hasn't been tampered with. What would also be good is a personal diary of observations filed out.

You'll be taking out a private prosecution under the various environmental and nuisance laws. If you have any other neighbours similarly afflicted by dog poop you might consider pooling your resources with regards to evidence and paying a solicitor.

I feel antisocial behaviour legislation would be more useful here.

Remember your keywords are "alarm" and "distress".

CAB link. Dog fouling is specifically mentioned.
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/housing/housing-antisocial-behaviour-s/antisocial-behaviour-s/

It's all about establishing a pattern of behaviour. So log all incidents, even minor ones and back it up with your CCTV.

They can lose benefits and council housing if it goes far enough. (making assumptions about the demographic of the miscreants here).

Going to bed around 2120 last night ... just as I started up the stairs and looked out the window I spotted a dark figure at the entrance to my driveway ... I froze hoping they didn't see me so I could watch and after about a minute or so they walked away, don't know if it was another dog walker shitting on my driveway (well the dog not the owner), I've not checked yet.

Tapo C510W ordered and will pick up later today, also ordered a Sandisk Extreme 256GB SD card as well ... I'll probably leave it on continuous record because I'm on a main road with occasional pedestrians.

Once again, thanks for all the suggestions, including the kill option Twisted Evil

All the best ... Barry
