So how do you intend to vote tomorrow (if you're eligible to)?

I regret it’s come to this but it’s either the Uniparty (they’re all the same and useless) or Reform, so I vote Reform. If Reform turn out to be crap, or if the threat of Reform doesn’t provoke change in the mainstream, we can expect a future of either apathy and continuing decline, or civil unrest. Really, I think we’ve reached that stage and I despair for my country.

Totally agree. I don't hold out that much hope for Reform with Farage as he is is much to marmite for many people but if they can force mainstream into serious change, all good.

I'm in one of those areas where democracy is too precious to risk on elections. The excuse is the forceable merger of smaller boroughs together. And it will have to be by force:

Elmbridge Council - party: Boomers, debt ~0
Spelthorne Council - party: Tories, debt ~£1 billion with a 'b'
Runnymede Council - party: Tories, debt ~£600 million

Run a decent council with a balanced budget, this is your reward Sad

We don't have them at this time but last time, there was no contest anyway because they didn't have enough candidates standing to fill all the places. All who put up a deposit were nodded through.

That says something about something I'm sure. Either it's a thankless task nobody wants to do, they aren't paying enough or there isn't enough oppertunity for milking expenses any more

I suspect the former. It's not a job I'd want.

im not giving my consent to any of them.

the fact that you people still think that you can change things by voting is baffling to me.

I have no idea, we have local elections in my area, but not had a dickybird through the post about any candidate, and even googling each of the candidartes names (which i found out through the BBC news website), there is spare information about what they stand for..... so i guess i'll not vote as i have zero idea what any of them will actually do for me/the area i live in

All quite amazing. Of course Labour and the Conservatives will be spouting forth tomorrow they both want to stop immigrants but we know neither do.Labour love giving money money to brown people who aren't British and The Consrevatives want cheap labour.

It's a better mix than has been for ages.

Reform have literally consumed the Tory council seats, Lib Dems and Greens pretty much done the same to Labour.

Labour national party response?

"...it feels like a Labour Party that just isn't Labour enough."

https://media.tenor.com/YctxttUmGMYAAAAM/forehead-slap-slapping-forehead.gif

Will it be Kier or Kemi tomorrow coming out with: "It is clear the electorate just don't understand our policies." Rolling Eyes

Whilst Reform may have 'taken control' of a few Councils and Mayorships, I doubt that much will change.
Town Halls and most Council Offices are infested with Nobby types who will do everything possible to frustrate any attempts at change/improvement.
Nothing much will change and Reform will simply cop for a load of shit when nothing changes or things go tits-up.

Never a truer word.
On a different forum I sometimes visit they are mostly rabid lefties and have become increasingly deranged by Brexit vote and two doses of trumpism.
There are huge threads devoted to ranting about Trump - it is quite astonishing on a UK based forum.

Another common attitude is that to stop imaginary (right wing) fascism they have to get left wing fascism in first by changing democratic process and shutting down social media - or doing away with it altogether.
It is quite enlightening to see what we are dealing with

I've gone off Triggernometry - Francis Foster is just a mannequin in the passenger seat so the show can use the car-sharing lane and Konstantin Kisin has changed from a cheeky chappy comedian to a smug intellectual - but their last interview versus Guilty Feminist was hilarious:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgO2G4_F4EQ&ab_channel=Triggernometry

Of the 2hr 21mins Shocked probably half of it is a cock polishing* exercise where the 2.4 people in the interview chuckle about how clever they are, a good chunk of Deborah and Konstantin talking past each other and the rest was Lefty wilful ignorance so predictable you could have filled a bingo card.

That these NPCs have been denied access to sharp implements (like wits) makes them no less dangerous.

If we're hurtling towards the Matrix - living in the pod, eating the bugs and distracted by Pr0nHub VR - let them embrace it and leave the rest of us to live in the real world.

*What is the feminist equivalent? Not beetle-bonnet buffing as they're known for being au naturale.

Well the majority lefty commie pinko pro palestinian dole scrounging population
didnt surprise around here and voted in a labour mayor so it's same shit different day
Reform came a close-ish second so theres hope.

I dont know how effective or trustworthy Reform will be, but I welcome the disruption from the usual shit show up where 2 not too dissimilar parties take turns to fuck it all up.

At least it tells the arseholes we want leaders with a backbone who get shit done.

That's my wish as well. I'm hoping even if they aren't much good that their stance on immigration will keep them popular enough to screw up both Labour and the Tories.

I've always thought British politics a bit of a shit show where they reward their friends and steal on expenses but at least we haven't got German style where they can ban a party for being right wing. Starmer would love to do that to reform. Laughing
