Are they all restricted to 114kph via the speedo?

Wouldn't go over 100kph, put in kph to mph converter, now wont go over 60mph, so same speed but different needle position.

Is it likely that it is restricted in top gear to a certain RPM?

I am vaguely familiar with the M Max boxes for bypassing the restrictor but should I take the clocks apart to see if there is a different restricting mechanism in there as the converter didn't seem to fix it?

There is a pink wire going to the CDI, cut it and shove a resistor on it. Full detailed instructions are on zzr international.

It sounds like something is (very) wrong with yours though, the converter trick should have worked. Is it limiting to 10k RPM in each gear?... if so that means someone badly bodged a bypass and the failsafe has kicked in.

Easiest way is just swap the CDI for a ZZR600 part (600D CDI if you have a 400k, or 600E CDI if you have a 400N).

It stops at 10K RPM.

I can't get on to zzr international, been trying for a day but the page just times out.

So I put a resistor in line with the pink wire? And what resistor value?

EDIT: Got in through a proxy for some reason, I'll have a look now, thanks again Thumbs Up

If it's 10k in every gear that would be the failsafe for the limiter. Means some potato has tried to bypass it and screwed up. Topping out at 60 though in top even with the failsafe seems wrong though, unless you have non standard sprockets, mine had the failsafe due to prior owner bodgery when I bought it and I could still manage a ton (just) in top.

You are going to need to find the prior bodge first though that is causing it to failsafe.

I ended up using a 600 CDI as mine had multiple snips at either end of the pink along with crap attempts at adding a resistor and in the end I couldn't be arsed making it all right. I think I paid about £20 for the CDI, as the 600 has no restriction it just ignores any feed from the pink.

You have a K or N model?

That's the one just plugs right in.

K model is the no pump, downsleeved 600d (1990-1992). I have one too.

If you want PDF's of the kwak workshop manual and the Haynes (for the 600 but almost all the same) PM me an email address and I'll send them when I get time.

Sorry to bump an old post but....

I am looking to upgrade my tired 400k motor with a 600d I have acquired (motor only, no loom or anything)
By being able to use the 600d CDI on the 400k, would that mean I could use my Japanese spec 400k CDI with a 600d motor or do I need to find a 600d CDI?

Don’t resurrect 9 year old posts. It’s very impolite.

I doubt the 400 ignition parts will work on the 600 engine. Honestly 600s are so damn cheap right now you’d be better off selling the 400 and buying a 600. Insurance will be easier and you won’t have to mess with registration and so on.
