Easy-X wrote: | Credit Scores.
Apparently two bad things in my credit score, simultaneously:
1) Not utilising the credit I have available.
2) Using >50% of the credit I have available.
I have a card with a balance I pay off every month and a zero percent balance transfer card I dumped some stuff on a while back. Average the two out and I'd be <50% of credit utilisation but no, paying off a card every month is bad and shopping for the cheapest credit is also bad.
Not really sure what these credit scores are meant to do when every credit agreement I've ever entered into has just sailed through (e.g. mobile phones and cars.) |
Credit card companies make no sense, I'm pretty sure it's down to AI. (like real intelligence, only artificial).
Mine, which I've had for decades and have paid by DD every time it's due wrote to me saying they were reducing my credit limit because I wasn't using enough of it (I spend around £800 on it every month and had a £1500 limit). Couple of months later they reduced it to £500. Thing is, there was already £750 on it when they did this, so they effectively stopped my credit card.
I called them to ask WTF was going on. They said they weren't prepared to increase it above this. They initially repeated the line I wasn't using enough of the balance until I pointed out the current balance was more than they just reduced it to. They then said that there was some sort of problem with my credit score which it was up to me to find out what it was and do something about it.
I decided this is too much hassle and in any case, sounds like a them problem rather than a me problem. Said I'd just pay the outstanding balance and cancel the card, but they then couldn't take a payment over the phone so I had to go into my bank to put a BACS payment through then call them back to cancel it.
Fucking pain in the arse. Got a different one with another company with the original credit limit in about 15 minutes of online form filling. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Sounds like my M&S credit card. I got it on a whim when bought lunches from the shop. Now I know M&S don't really do cards, it's a branding exercise, still I thought it was cute to buy my M&S sandwich with an M&S card. This was back when you had staff that would give you a smile when you whipped it out*
Years and years I had the card and the original £1,000 limit never got bumped. Until... I forgot to pay it off one time and payment ended up being a day late. Bam! the next month "we're reducing your credit limit". Well fuck you very much, I'll buy my sandwiches in Tesco from now on.

Riding to the shops, coming back out and seeing a trail of oil which ends up under the bike ... was it there already I thought ... started the engine and saw another trail of oil as I reversed
Luckily I made it home without the oil light coming on, put a plastic bag under and walked away.
Hopefully it's either the radiator or the oil lines, they can be replaced if I can find the parts (or add custom set of lines/radiator), but if it's the drain pipes from the cyclinder then it's an engine strip down (GSX 1400). |

I've arranged with a local chirpy-chappy for him to come round at 9 today to help me chuck out some stuff in my shed but so far he is not here, and I'm not going to start till he gets here because he needs to be the initial spider-chaser.
Not a problem generally about running a bit behind the time, cos it is Sunday morning after all. And I have fuckloads of other stuff to do anyway.
But NOW I am starting to feel the need to drop the kids off at the pool - so if he shows up now he will either catch me in the very act OR the air in the house will make it clear what has been just going on*.
I can have all the doors open and own some very posh air freshener but still ...
Anyway at the moment, neither the kids nor the chirpy-chappy have arrived
*plus I'd need to have another shower ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Neither. (at least not at 10.31)
Apparently he showed up at 10.54 (according to my Ring doorbell, which he did not use) which was about 2 minutes after I decided to hang the washing out and water the back garden, but because I was out in the garden and he didn't use my Ring doorbell ... I didn't hear it.
Wasn't until I came back indoors and picked up my phone to text my daughter that I saw the Ring notification "There is someone in your front yard" and there is a picture of Fred (said chirpy-chappy).
Another man letting me down and not able to stick to arrangements.
I don't have his phone number.
I am unconcerned.
He might have managed to get to at least hellkat-first-base* if he had stuck to time and helped me in my task but now ... not so much.
The kids arrived shortly after.

Are you suggesting playing cool cost him a blowie? Asking to get an insight in to 'girl-world' ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

First off, "girl world" is not hellkat world. I rarely follow the same emotional and manipulative paths of other girls.
No.
Playing cool did not lose him a blowie.
It meant that he was late for a job (not the blowie variety!!) and so I will be less likely to add him to my list of trustworthy "little men who do". We hadn't agreed a price (yet) as there was a fair amount of old bike parts that might have earned him some scrap metal value, but generally I would have been amenable to crossing his palm with silver for his time and effort.
If (for example) his dog* died then I will have some sympathy and perhaps re-schedule the appointment.
He's probably gone to the bookies to lick his wounds.
NB: I may or may not have previously provided blowies to way more tardy people than him (and regretted it at my leisure ) but he is not currently on that list of favourable blokes. In fact that list is woefully short at present, in that it only includes Hugh Grant, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vinnie Jones.

Meanwhile, my house smells deliciously of roast chicken which he is missing out on.
Besides, I was cooking it for the pets anyway

Update: I sulked for an hour or two and then bumped into the gentleman in question outside Londis when I went to buy milk.
So he came home with me and has pretty much cleared the shed out except for the two engines for which I think he is coming back tomorrow arvo with a ?handbarrow.
It was a successful exercise and I am happy with the result.
Perhaps I shall put him in my little black book of "men who do" after all, as he has that wiry energy that madcap chirpy-chappies often seem to have.
It has given me the much-needed motivation to decide what else I could throw out to declutter my life.

Soz I was just curious about hellkat-first-base - not in the traditional sense and what it meant.
and well yes I messed up - I'm aware hell-kat world is not a marker for the rest of the female population.
