Finally sorted out my NIC payments for state pension, turns out it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I only have to bung in a few quid for two partial years and, assuming I live and work till 67, I'll get the full whack. (If they don't move retirement age again!)

Coax networking. That takes me back!

Back in the day I got sent on a job at a translation office, connecting a load of PCs up to a network. It was probably for a Netware server, Lotus Notes or some shit. All went well till the last two PCs in a side office...

The BNC T-piece got within about an inch of the newly fitted network card and ZAP! a giant spark and all the office electrics blew out. On two floors Turns out neutral was tied to ground and swapped with live for every socket in this side office Given the PC cases were live it was lucky I wasn't electrocuted! (The coax effectively being a ground supply from the other floors.) Oh, and every network card was destroyed.

Must add this was with a ale in hand and sat by a proper fire.

I put myself on an eat less move more diet in July and up to now, I've managed to lose 20kg. I feel better, don't get aches and pains any more. and have loads more energy. I have an end goal in mind and that's pretty close.

On the way back from an office party, me and the wife stop off at the local garage. For some reason this place is the 24/7 watering hole for all the plod in the area. I did the decent thing: let the wife drive so I could drink but offered to work the fuel pump. Who says chivalry is dead!

Inside the garage shop there's 3 plod camped by the coffee machine and another 3 waltzing in after I paid. There are now 3 police cars and a van in the car park and more fuzz than a peach wandering about. Weirdly sandwiched between this lot is lads with motorbikes. "Odd," I say to the wife, "three lads but only two bikes..."

Ordered my new prescription today, the doctor has added six new types of medical cannabis to my prescription.

It's very odd having an appointment with a doctor where I request Kentucky Barbeque, Frosted Lemon Angel, Banjo, Sweet and Sour, Grape Gas and some White Widow.

That's a total of nine different strains so far that I can now choose from whenever I order along with access to their "strain selector" which allows me to order something else that has a similar profile to one that I'm already prescribed. If I want something different added to my prescription then I just need to make another appointment and it's as simple as that.

You could say that the system is taking the piss as you don't go to your GP with a list of medicines you'd like to try to see if you like them. You also can't then make another GP appointment and get them to add a load more drugs to your prescription because you'd also like to try those.

Welcome to the future.

Went to The Bike Specialist in Sheffield and saw the sales picture from when it was sold by them 6 years ago.

From the dint in the exhaust to the over tightened screws & the exact same mileage.. I guess it hasn’t been touched / used at all.
