siezed usually means the piston i thought, which will mean in gear it wont turn at all, pullin in the clutch will let it wheel

the gear box oil should have affected the piston, as only 2t oil would

i assume the gear box has done summin untoward, sorry mate

Hi

Just to get the facts straight , if you are talking about a seized gearbox then the engine should start and run ok.
If it won't start off the button due to a transmission fault ie. locked into a gear or two then pulling in the clutch should get it to turn over and start,

If it won't then the clutch has a clearance/ release problem
if the transmission is dry the the clutch will likely be fried

Thats one problem and the reason it will not crank

secondly 6th gear sounds like it may have welded it self to a shaft
with excessive heat.

A gearbox/ engine strip will be needed to determine what parts are defective.

So an example shopping list may be:-

A set of clutch plates poss clutch basket etc
6th speed gear
shaft
bearings
gasket set

after costing that lot and labour for a mechanic to do it for you
you might decide to try and find a engine from ebay or a breakers
as being a cheaper option.

although I have no personal experience of that particular aprillia bike only the af1, and have only rebuilt Suzuki motors. I think it would apply to most 2 stroke setups.

best of luck

hope you get your money back

1700 is a lot for duffa

Warrenty does not matter from the shop whatever it says, it just adds to your existing consumer rights. You should get your money back. Go speak to your local CAB and Trading Standards.

where ever you bought it from go back, take the bike with you and get your money back, if the fault is yours i.e you knew it had no gearbox oil in the bike then it is YOUR responsability. but otherwise get them to either: give you your money bk or take them to court, but for 1700 quid it must of done a few miles, if your bike isnt turning over then its possibly your engine thats seised (i dont know much but mine has done the same) and i have had 2 new engines in 2k hope this hleps m8

Mind you, the pre-ride inspections do say that you have to check oil levels so if he did go to court then the dealer could argue that he did not do his checks and therefor it is his own fault.
If they did not tell you it had no oil and you can prove that bikes normally have oil in them when sold.

This post could have been resolved in 3 threads for crying out loud. If you just explained clearly in the first place there wouldn't be all this confusion. I hope people read robby's new post about spelling out problems clearly with correct grammar.
