Hi
Which model of Aprilia 125?
The very early AF1 held the cog between the starter motor and the plastic outer cover. Not that secure but worked. Later ones had the starter motor bolt to the bottom of the engine and a small plastic cover to hold the starter chuck on the "outside", then the outer cover over the top of that.
They always sounds pretty awful.
