their's dozens of 50cc's you can buy which are made to look like (real bikes). On eBay they sell 50's made to look like american chopper bikes and cruisers with fake vtwin heads an crap like that
trouble is you ride a scooter you look like a knob
you buy one of them 50s made to look like a chopper you look like a knob
can't win, tell umm to wait till he's 17 then take a restricted access course for 350 then buy whatever he wants. ____________________ -=[Sam/b]=- cx500's the only way to travel, we do it in style just like jimmy saville

Nope, 50cc is ALL you can have at 16 and even that has to be restricted to like 30mph or something silly. But nobody does ____________________ My NSR --> https://members.boards.ie/instinct/Diagonal.jpg

Thats the joys of biking mate. Its all there to be enjoyed, even the selling and buying. There are many sports 50's out there, a lot of them are quite fast. Some kind of look like 125's. You just got to look around. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

My little derestricted 50 can manage about 55mph, and that's plenty for me as I'm learning; I use it mainly around town and for slowly getting used to the twisties without dying. I'm 17 so don't really worry about getting caught doing above 27mph or whatever a restricted bike does which is completely rediculous and imo, dangerous.
I like the fact that, as it's such a high-revving engine, it's a bike you have to work to get going, and I think that through that, my clutch control will improve, rather than just feeding the throttle in at the bite point.
I agree that it's stupid that a 50 is your only option at 16 but if anything, it offers you more experienced on the roads setting you up more readily for a bigger bike later on.
I guess my point is 50s aren't that crap for a complete novice. With regards to Josh|RD125LC's point, a lot of sports 50s these days are pretty big. In my experience, my 50 has been mistaken for a 250 a few times.... probably because there are more Aprilia Chesterfield 250s around than 50s....
Sorry for going on, I'm ill and tired and lonely. ____________________ The tiger who came for a pint |

I hear that the Gilera Runner 180 is a bit of a nutter machine for a scooter. I read somehwere that they have been known to top 110 mph. Now there's mad rush for a 16 yr old |

I reckon that's a misprint. As you can see here there's a whole range of Runners of different sizes. I find it very hard to believe that a 49cc engine can be made to make 21bhp and do 110mph - but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong ____________________ Monster m600

Well if Fast Bikes have their facts right then being a 16 yr old right right now holds the prospect of a lot of fun |
