As above. They came out of my GK73A, led to believe they fit all models. Put them in and get yourself a dyno print out and your sorted. Wink Fuck paying £140 for the kit + fittings, take them off my hands for £20. Thumbs Up

Not being funny but surely you will need the 3 forms from the restrictor kit supplier (F1?) that have to be signed by the fitter and sent to the insurance, dvla and one for keeping?

If not the great I have a few under my bench in work... got a set for a gsxr400 somewhere too

You actually need someone who is registered to fit the kit. Otherwise if u get stopped and they ask to check they will see your not restriced even if you are. The certificate means more than the restriction. You dont need a dyno. Basically the form gets sent off to the restriction company dvla dont need to know at all and you get a signed certificate saying they were fitted. My dad used to be a registered fitter. So if you need more info you can email me and I can find out for you. Cheers Tony

Tarche - eh? Fit it yourself, and IF, your insurance company requires proof, you send them a dyno print out, as what I did last november. If you crash the bike and the bike is 33bhp, it is restricted, no matter what a little official bit of paper says. Rolling Eyes

This official bit of paper means nothing tarche. If its restricted, then its restricted, nothing will deny that or prove it wrong, especially some official bit of paper or who fitted it.

If you buy it new, yes, the only way you can get it done is by buying through an authorised garage and they fit it. Thats buying it new. We're talking about second hand.

Sorry m8 I beg to differ! Me and all my m8s had our bikes restricted at the same time. 2nd hand and brand new! You need a certificate otherwise insurance wont pay out and then you are technically not covered. I have been there. My FZR was restricted and written off and without the certificate they would have not paid out. The specifically requested it. Thumbs Up

Your talking bull their is no legal requirment for you to hold the fI certificate as the bike can be restricted in differant ways.

As long as you can prove IE dyno cartificate the bike is poducing no more than 33bhp then your fine.

Laura he's not talking bull. The law doesn't say the bike has to be restricted to 33bhp using an FI kit. But a lot of insurance companies will ONLY accept an official FI kit restriction, a dyno printout just won't do.

There are obviously some insurers that do accept dyno printouts, but lets see if they request a proper FI certificate if anyone insured by them has an accident.

If they know you dont have an FI certificate, they may insure you knowing that as soon as you have a claim they can say you weren't restricted because you don't have a real certificate therefore avoiding every having to pay out for a claim of yours.

The idea of selling these was so that someone would buy them and ACTUALLY keep them in, then there is no problems with insurance etc. My insurance company Carole Nash & Bennetts never asked for restrictors and in the small print it did not say about using FI International only. Also my mate had an accident (his fault) and although i can't remember who his insurance company was i remember him saying they didn't check carbs for the restrictors or ask for the certificate.

Not too sure if they would fit a GSXR600 because of different carb sizes.

Well, I've never heard this before, any ideas on who "a lot of insurance companies won't accept a dyno print out" are? The first one I tried accepted a dyno printout but only once I told them that it is the same proof as an official certificate. They just asked for SOME proof saying the bike was restricted and a motorcycle garage signed it. Wouldn't mind knowing what companies won't accept it.

Must be some sort of deal between F.I and insurance companies where they get money to ask for it. All soem sorta god damn scam I tells ya Wink

Instead of fighting about it, why don't you just ring up some insurance companies and ask them?

CIA wanted a certificate, as do Hastings Direct and Elite. Not sure on any others but I can imagine it being a similar case for the majority.

I'm with CIA mate. They wanted proof in my case, when I asked if a dyno printout was okay, they said yes. I'm thinking this is the same with every insurer out there.

However, ste was with cia and they didn't want rpoof with him. I think it seems to be down to the individual sales telephone person. Rolling Eyes

Cofields demanded the FI Int. restriction docs, The two companies I was with when I was spose to be restricted never asked though (Thankgod!)

I dont see why it bothers them that much, If you crash into a bus load of orphans and dont have them fitted they aint gonna pay out jack anyway, So they atleast have your money Smile

Being the owner of FI International must be an awesome business to own, So much money for one sheet of paper and 4 washers. They even charge £25 admin fee to change the name/address on the cert.

CIA didn't ask for proof of restriction for a ZX6R at 17 and when renewing the policy at 18 they asked if my CBT was still valid (luckily it still was Razz ) and also didn't ask for proof of restriction on a TL1000R.

Do you only need the cerificate if you have a crash, and need the payout, or just to insure it in genral, because a 17 year old i know has a VFR400 and a DR-Z 400, and hasnt got either of them restricted, so how can he insure em?
And are you fucked if they catch you without restrictiors on a restricted license?

Some insurance companies ask to see a certificate/ proof of restriction when you take a policy out, others don't ask at all.

Trying to claim would be when it would be noticed, I don't believe that you have to have any proof of restriction by law, it just has to be 33bhp or less. Plently of people on here have been involved with insurance claims on bikes which were meant to be 33bhp but weren't and didn't have problem.

You could get caught either by your insurance or the police and get fucked but I can't say I've ever heard of that happening. If you were to get caught then the police could do you for riding without a license and you'd not have valid insurance, if you crashed into someone and they were trying to claim off your insurance than you'd be very very fucked if they noticed your bike not being 33bhp but the likelyhood of that actually happening is as good as zero IMO.
