 |
|
Hi,
I have just done an online quote for Motorcycle Direct for my RG125F. On the quote I put I was 17, 1 years NCB, no convictions, accidents etc, bike to be stored in a garage, with a chain and padlock for security. To be riding on a provisional, annual mileage of 5000, and for social and domestic use only.
The result I got was bollocks if you ask me. They wanted 1300 with 150 excess. That was fully comp'd.
Any other good places I can try? I want a quote of around 500-700 really.
The RD I got quoted 450 tpft with 1 year NCB. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

Its a stupid amount and I don't know what to do now. I wanted to have the RG as my main bike, but now it looks as if I have to ride the RD, which I don't really want to do. I can't say how annoyed I am at this present moment. Insurance is bullshit. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

I wanted fully comp really because of the expensive fairings. I don't want to drop it and get nothing out of it. But I guess if I'm careful, I can go tpft. I'll give it a go.

I had a stupid insurance quote of £307 TPFT for a Bandit 600. What *were* they thinking? ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Online quotes are usually too vague, dont give you a very good idea. Also a lot of the online agencies only work with more expensive insurers who dont always specialise in bikes.
I was getting quotes of £1300 TPO for my Bandit6 on www.onlinebikequote.co.uk, but a quick call to Carole Nash and I was insured for £660 fully comp.
The bike specialists should be able to help you. I cant see it being much more than about £500 TPO on an RG125. I was insured at 17 with 1 year no claims on an RS125 and that was £680. I did get quotes much cheaper but they all wanted an instant down payment which I couldnt afford at the time. Needed to go for a more expensive policy to pay it off in installments.
Dont give up hope because of the online quote though. Best off phone people like Carole Nash, Bennetts, the people you'd expect to be quite expensive. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

Fully Comp is a waste of money really for a bike only worth little over a grand. TPFT should save you hundreds. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

Yep, i'm TPFT and my bike is worth over £3000 theoretically, however next year I will probably go FC.
Go TPFT, i'd even be tempted to go TPO on that bike. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Insurance is still a lot cheaper than Northern Ireland. I was ringing this evening about an NC30 aged 18 with 2 years NCB and the best Carole Nash could come up with was £1660 TPFT. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look into it, and as you say, try TPO and TPFT as well. Like I said, I'm willing to pay around 600 maximum really, maybe 700. ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S
