At first they seem impossible but it is actually very easy.

You just have to get over the fear of feeling like the plastic is about to break!! Laughing

I grip the end of the visor like a gun and pull the black trigger with my forefinger then slide the visor upwards and outwards. When putting it back in just slide in and down until it clicks. Make sure the little black trigger is in the out position when you do though.

You will probably go through a few times where the side pod just pops off when you try but it just pops back on again!

Put the lid down infront of you with the visor furthest away.
Lift the visor all the was and the plastic bits will pop out on either side.
put your thumbs on the lid and using index finders pull both plastic bits back hard.
Once they click coutinue pulling up with your index fingers and pull the visor up and out.
EASY.

To put one in put the ends in at the same time and wiggle it quite hard pusing back.
You should hear a click for both sides.
Close the visor and you will be able to see if its in peoperly.

Sounds like your in the same situation I was in a week ago. How bloody hard do they have to make it! Think it took me something stupid like 3 hours (on and off) to remove and refit the visor the first time Laughing

What he said, it's dead easy once you get used to it. It did take me a couple of attempts when I first got my helmet - can do it while wearing the helmet now, as long as the little levers don't get shoved under the side-pods Very Happy Wink

With an arai its a deffo you need the knack.
I hate doing them at work showing people. I put the lid in front of me, visor facing away. Slight pressure (only slight!!) at the bottom of both pods and lift the catchs, and pull.

Hate the noise they make coming off Sick
I dont understand why Arai still do pods, only advantage i see is that it hides the mechanics of the visor.

Side pods look nice. They'd be a disaster on the V-flyer though. The visors on those really need the knack. IIRC, the salesman broke the visor on my helmet demonstrating how to put it back in. The flimsy little plastic togs are scary. Confused

Lifting the catch/lever should push the side-pod out ever so slightly - so you don't need to put any pressure on.

At least, that's how it works on my Quantum-F Confused Question

Visor out

Pull visor fully up so the grey levers pop up.

With the helmet facing away pull the levers up, the lid makes a cracking noise each time you flick the levers up.

Then it should have released the visor. Then pull the visor back untill it comes out by itself.

Visor in

I lift the grey levers to a horizontal position which allows more room for "entry", as this will open the gap at the side shields. Sometimes I use a key to move them up if they have dropped "inside" the shield.

Insert the visor from quite a steep angle (an angle more vertical then the visor would be at maxium angle assuming it was fixed on properly)

Then push in and it should click, you may need to jiggle about abit. Practice will make you better. If it feels really jammed take it out and try again.

Even after all this time sometimes one side won't go in and I have to take the visor out and try again. Clapping

Edit : it's possible to do any of the actions one side at a time. No need to try and do both at once, although releasing the visor by pulling the grey levers up can easily be done both at once. Thumbs Up

I used to have the same problems until I asked at the Arai Service truck and they showed me using one with a clear side pod fitted so you could see what's happening. The main thing is once you've pulled the side levers out LET GO OF THEM as you continue to lift the visor out. You could see through the clear pod that they just lift the sides of the visor out initially and don't need to be touched again and in fact hamper the visor coming out if you keep pressure on them.

Sorry to bring this back up but I can't get the visor off by RV. Embarassed
The manual I got with it is for a RX7 so I'm wondering whether I should be pulling up or is there a different release mechanism on this model? I've had the jaw held in place by a friend while I try and lift the visor but it won't budge.

Should be the same - the RV uses the same visor type as the Quantum-E/F's, Astro-J/R's, RX7's ...

When you lift the visor to full-open do the little levers pop out of the side-pods? You need to give each of those a push upwards, quite firmly, then lift the visor-ends up and out of the pods.

It's easier to do with the helmet facing away from you.

Below is a link to the arai manual . Page 8 is where they go over the visor removal etc.

I found it plus the advice in this thread really useful as I've not taken the visor off my lid before...

It's a pain in the arse (although you always get smug people tell you it's easy).

If it's any consolation, it seems to get (a bit) easier with practice/time.
