I had a restricted ZXR400 which was excellent.
Can definitely recommend that. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

i had a restricted zxr400, i think its the best option going for a 400, gets you used to the bigger frame and weight, without a massive increase in bhp, then take the restrictors out and the fun begins!!! |

Ive got a GS500 ( which is currently for sale ), realy comfortable bike, did 100mph without too much trouble, restrictors were allready fitted when i got it and are still in now so im not sure what its like without them. The power is quite a step up from a CG though, with any of these bigger bikes, although 33bhp restricted, you will be pleasantly supprised ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Having the bike restricted is no bother at all. You can still hit 100MPH, maybe your acceleration will be slower because over 8,000 RPM the bike stops pulling but heck it's fast enough anyway. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Arn't you supposed to go through the stage of "I'm going to obey all the speed limits because I like the new colour of my licence" before the "Fuck it, I want there now" stage?
I'm liking my GPZ500S as a restricted bike.
I considered getting a 600 but decided it wasn't going to do much more than a 500 or 400 could do for me - but would be heavier.
As for the argument of it being boring after my restriction period is up - that's two years away and a change in my licence and needs - I'll get a different bike!
Decided against the 400s as most are imports, and didn't want to take the risk of not being able to get parts.
Decided the 4t 250s didn't quite produce the power I wanted, and didn't want a 2t.
Which left the 500s - the GPZ came up, so I bought it.
I was basically looking for a bike that I could comfortably do some long distance on (speed + riding position), commute happily on and take pillions comfortably. I think the GPZ was/is the best choice for this, at this stage.
Oh, and a 33bhp bike puts out plenty of power for your day-to-day riding.
