Look mate, I know you are new to all of this but once bikes are restricted they are all the same. They go about 100MPH. The acceleration is slower. The Fuel economy goes down a bit. The insurance group stays the same. All 400's and 600 sports are expensive to insure at 17 and the restriction does not make a difference. That's all the info you will need for this bike and any other bike.

Rant over.

^^Agree with jonny bags.

At the end of the day, they all produce 33bhp, you'll be looking at 100mph very top end and 35+mpg.

Wrongo, My restricted CBR600RR is quicker than monk's(monk.... dunno the rest of his name) and while on the hastings ride out my bike was noticeably faster, and he said his only hit 90mph whereas mine hits 105ish. This will all be down to a sportier gearing for my bike.

Pulls up to 8k rpm, then slows through rest of the revs, peak power is like 7k rpm. MPG is like 45 sat flat out for 260 miles, and filtering for 60ish.

Fully comp you don't even want to go there, tpft upwards of £1k dependant on stuff like postcode, security, etc. etc.

I had a quote on a new CBR 600 when I was 23, full license for 6 months and they said somewhere in the region of £1600 3rd party fire and theft. I think insurers will be rolling around the office when you ring up and tell them your 17, get a quote and post it. I'm very curious.

For me and me Daytona 600 fully comp is upwards of £4000. And only one company would actually quote me.

I guess what they're trying to say is I'm a high risk.

(19, 2 years NCB, good area for security)

So both about 100 then.

Of course there may be little differences, the point Jon is making is that basically they're all gonna be about the same.

Many may disagree but I think putting a restrictor kit on a bike like a GSX600 should be punishable by death! Just ride a 400/500 for 2 years and save up some money & NCB!

After riding the GSXR 600 unrestricted for 2 days after passing my test I can safely say it has stonking performance compared to a 125. It really is night and day yet at the same time feels very controllable. Low speed is a doddle as well. Practice makes perfect though - I have around 95 miles of low speed riding around my car park practising u turns and clutch control so that was probably way better than nothing. I had a rough idea of what it could do to me if abused.

I also know for a fact that the bike is good for an indicated 150mph, I know that this feels like now and what getting their feels like. I know also what dropping a gear and getting the rear wheel sliding does, while incredibly fun during an overtake it has tempered my willingness to do it anytime soon again.

My right wrist is thankfully controlled by my brain and not my balls - not getting it restricted after the fun I've had. Strangely not felt out of my depth yet - HOWEVER - I have been conciousley taking it very easy going around anything that resembles a corner - even going around corners I know very well at silly low speeds just to be sure.

It is up to you of course whether you restrict it or not - ride like a tit and your still going to end up fucking the bushes.

There was a very useful insurance guide posted a long time ago (by annabella i think) that proved invaluable when i got my quote for a Bandit 600.
I has just turned 18 with no NCB's.
The first company i rang just laughed at me.
The first quote i got was in the region of £2200 TPFT
After playing the companys off against each other for about an hour i got the price down to £700 with cover to ride other bikes.
I also live in a relatively high crime area.
It pays to shop around. Cool

1 years NCB as well. Laughing

It was £50 for changing a £800 tpft policy on a ZX6R to the TL.

Then why ask what it is like with the restriction in then? I went through all that effort of explaining as well. Sad Wink
