The reason I asked about oil is that a lot of bikes are shipped without oil in them.
I agree with you, sounds like fuel starvation which would be somewhere between:
Tank breather, fuel filter, fuel tap, fuel line, needle valve, float height, needle position, and jet cleanliness. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

My Hongdou runs sweet as a nut.
It doesn't stop bits falling off and disintegrating with alarming regularity, but it runs perfectly and has never had any engine problems at all.
They're not all bad - I still can't ride it to its limits. It is better having a nice wee light bike to learn to ride properly on anyway imo, and having more or less mastered slow control on it, by all accounts a larger bike is easier to ride. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I probably won't be much help but I had a 2 stroke chainsaw brand new and I had to run it in for a few tanks before I put it under load other wise it would cut out when I went to cut some thing maybe it will be better when it gets free and the rings bed in some more? I have never really had a go on a 2 stroke but I must admit I am feeling the urge for an RS 250 trackbike good luck with it mate ____________________ Those bloody footpegs......they ought to do away with em! |

Running out of fuel, it normally splutters, misfires a bit and then just cuts out. If you've been having the trouble starting it and then it running for a short while and then it stopping from lack of fuel, you'll know what it sounds like. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

My hongdou had terrible problems thats all. Must have been mine though, my aunties one runs ok. Bits falling off was the main problem Plus mine would never go over 40mph Which sucked compared to other 125's. Glad I got my 600 now though. Gd luck with fixing it, when my one ran out of fuel, it spluttered a bit, then cut out, and the back wheel would lock if clutch was out! ____________________ -Monk- |
