nsr neutral

does anybody else find it near enough impossible to put their nsr in neutral while it is still? or is something wrong with mine?? if i roll it then it will pop in but if i am at a standstill it just goes straight through it, occasionally the neutral light will pop on then straight off again

Didn't you post this a while ago? I think someone said with most Honda's you can only get neutral when its rolling?

yea i did post but then i noticed the free play on the clutch and thought some body might be able to relate that to the neutral issue lol

It won't make the bike any easier to ride, but it won't effect getting into neutral too much.

Get it to a stop in 1st gear, switch the engine off, and change to nuetral.

OR

Stop in 1st, blip the throttle (revs to 5k) and change up to N as the rev's die down.

2cm of free play? Don't know what the recommendation is on your bike, but I would have thought about 3mm would be right, probably no more than 5mm. Definately check that out first. Does your bike crawl forward if holding it on the clutch in traffic?

no in theory the clutch works perfect, if i hold it in it stays, but the free play is a bit wierd, do you think i need to adjust my clutch cable at all?

as long as lever is at least a few mm away from the bars before the clutch starts to bite your freeplay is ok, an my nsr is the same for finding neutral i have to roll it forward first

Free play is measured with the clutch out, pulling in, not clutch in, letting out. If you've got too much free play, then when the lever is fully applied, the clutch itself may still be dragging, making it a pig to select gears, and particularly selecting neutral.

Sometimes my MBX slips back into neutral from 2nd gear! And the clutch slips by itself at times as well. I'll be sat at the lights with clutch pulled fully in, and the bike still stuttering forward! Got a mind of its own!

I just had to learn the trick for my NSR but i get it 1st time everytime now. You just got to get used to your new bike:)

I have an Aprilia RS 125, same thing happens with my bike, when stopped i cant find neutral unless i roll the bike forward a little bit or put it in neutral as im slowing down, i think its a normal thing, dont think theres anything wrong with your bike

Yeah its pretty much the same for a lot of bikes. I too have trouble shifting gears when the bike isn't moving. Just a common thing. Nothing to worry about.
